Life With the Garvers

I can't believe summer is almost over! I start school on Monday and I am already having some serious summertime withdrawals! Here is a collection of pictures from some of my adventures. View from the Cress Creek trail near Rexburg, ID. My last few visits with Michael before he left on his LDS mission. Hooray for bike rides! Mmm I highly recommend The Sweet Tooth Fairy. Well, enough about the warm and wonderful summer. Now that it's getting colder, bring on the sweaters, cute boots, and hot chocolate!

Life With the Garvers: Emily and Andrew Garver

http://www.emilygarver.blogspot.com/2015/04/emily-and-andrew-garver.html

Emily and Andrew Garver. Saturday, April 25, 2015. I would just like to introduce myself. My name is Emily and I am currently going to school here at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I am originally from Eastern Oregon. I am majoring in Child Development. I think it's fascinating to learn about children and how they think and develop. (It would also be a very handy major to have when I have my own children! Andrew and I had been dating for 8 months when he proposed! My brothers and me. My sisters and me.

Life With the Garvers: Happy Saturday

http://www.emilygarver.blogspot.com/2015/05/happy-saturday.html

Saturday, May 9, 2015. It looks so beautiful outside. It's been raining recently, which is turning everything green. Too bad I'm stuck inside with a million things to do. I'd rather be having adventures outside :). All the rain we've been getting reminds me of our recent trip to Washington D.C. Andrew's family lives on the East Coast so we took a trip out there to see them. We toured D.C. for a day in the rain. Despite the inclement weather, we had a blast. The Natural History Museum. Life With the Garvers: Dating

http://www.emilygarver.blogspot.com/2015/06/dating.html

Saturday, June 13, 2015. Last week in my Family Relations class we talked a lot about the lost art of dating. So many people today just 'hang-out' and don't take the next step. It's not as common now days for a guy ask a girl out on a formal, planned date as it was years ago. If Andrew never asked me on a date, I would have never really gotten to know him and fallen in love. Getting to know someone deeply is something that just cannot happen if couples only hang out. So guys, ASK GIRLS ON DATES! This upd...

Life With the Garvers: The Oregon Coast

http://www.emilygarver.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-oregon-coast.html

Friday, August 14, 2015. A few weeks ago my family and I went to the Oregon Coast! It was the first time we took a family trip there in over a decade. We loved swimming (freezing) in the ocean, buying salt water taffy, eating Mo's famous clam chowder for the first time, exploring Devil's Punch Bowl, seeing whales from a lighthouse, shopping, finding caves and waterfalls, making silly music videos, going on early morning walks, and more! Here are some pictures from the trip! Thanks for stopping by! Wow &#...

Understanding Family Dynamics & Theories. May 10, 2015. May 10, 2015. Notes on Family Systems Theory. Families are vital for our development as human beings. It is common knowledge that a baby needs someone to care for him or her, a child needs someone to teach them basic skills, teenagers need advice with friends or *gasp* dating. It is usually easier to understand someone when you are able to look at their family. This is the basis of the family systems theory. Circular causality guides behavior. Rules...

Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Thursday, May 14, 2015. This week in class we have been talking about culture, values and judgement. It is important that we not pass judgement on other cultures. Without being in their shoes we have a hard time truly knowing what it would be like having to make the decisions they have to make. What if you were a mother of a young girl in Africa? Would you circumcise her? Thursday, May 7, 2015. One way we can do this is through feedback. Positive feedback is intended to create ...

One Day At A Time

One Day At A Time. My husband and best friend, Craig Garvin, was killed in a car accident on March 16, 2010. This is our story. Wednesday, March 16, 2016. I dreamed about you the other night. I spoke to you. Finally. It seemed like hours before I realized it was you. Why is that? As soon as I did, as soon as my brain caught up with me and I figured out that it was your face, and your eyes, I panicked. I panicked because I knew you’d leave. I find myself mourning you all over again. But I can’t. I despera...
