Some of my more favorite costumes on exhibit included: two PowerRangers, Tokyo Tower, Scott's Cardboard Robot (he won the costume competition, i think for sheer perserverance at wearing gigantic cardboard boxes and dancing all night long), and more. Sunday, April 22, 2007. A whole lotta matsuri - floats, sake, and teenaged boys, oh my! Mi-chan and Keiko eating a "Mickey" candied apple. I told you i had a problem. Night sakura at hikone castle. Hikone castle at night. Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Is there a light at the end of this tunnel-vision? A little too obsessed with sakura. And now i hear the upcoming cold weather, while depressing my spirits, will keep the sakura a few days longer. I think that light keeps getting further and further away.

Here i've landed in a country where i can't read, write, or speak the language, where grocery shopping or withdrawing money from the bank is an adventure, and where they expect me to actually teach young, impressionable students. I have found maybe the best Mexican restaurant, I mean, best restaurant ever. Since my move to Japan, I have found some savory morsels of Mexican food, but they are far and few in between my friend. David and Garrett and pretty good snowboarders, so they gave us all a quick tutorial on getting on and off lifts and then I was pretty much on my own. I thought lifts were going to be so scary!
