Seeking Refuge: May 2010
http://emilyindadaab.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Twirling on the Brink of Something Fabulous. Thursday, May 20, 2010. Tonight I sent into that trust a number of things. And tonight I sat at my trusty little table that I've had since 1999 and that my parents had for many years before that with my best friend. We looked around my empty apt, that will become emptier each day, and assessed this year. In my little apartment where life has unfolded so significantly and so beautifully, I am sad to leave it, but I know this only means another door opens.
Seeking Refuge: May 2008

Twirling on the Brink of Something Fabulous. Saturday, May 10, 2008. But it never happened, and I don't think it's actually going to happen for at least 5 more years. But then I moved to another, more lively, part of the city this past year. I was thrilled to be a 1.5 song on my ipod away from a Safeway, and a 4-5 song walk away from Whole Foods. Heaven! So, you can, by this point, imagine my interest when I heard that just a few blocks north of me a shiney new Harris Teeter had opened! Links to this post.
Seeking Refuge: 2010
http://emilyindadaab.blogspot.com/2010/01/2010.html
Twirling on the Brink of Something Fabulous. Saturday, January 02, 2010. Happy New Year, everyone. As suspected, not much has changed. But some things have been reaffirmed. In this new year, I've been reminded of a few important things. One is that jobs come and go, security can fade, but friends never seem to walk away. It was a great time. Lots of laughter, lots of good cocktails, much revelry, and most importantly, great great friends. It was a great way to ring in a new year.
Seeking Refuge: April 2009
http://emilyindadaab.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Twirling on the Brink of Something Fabulous. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. In 1995, I was a junior in high school at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in western Massachusetts. I spent four years immersed in one of the most fantastic environments for education. I lived with my teachers and friends in a place where there was never a lack of encouragement and support. . How can she possibly be as bad as everyone says? And didn't she know we were juniors in high school and not English lit majors in college?
Seeking Refuge: February 2009
http://emilyindadaab.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Twirling on the Brink of Something Fabulous. Monday, February 16, 2009. I don't really re-read what I post on here too often. Occasionally, if I need a dose of perspective I'll take a tour through the posts I wrote while in the refugee camp, but it's rare I revisit my musings. It's amazing how easily you push down past experiences, carrying them with you, and move forward and selectively remember (or forget) the details that are the most difficult. And for the first time, I'm truly grateful I've had ...

Wherever You Go, There You Are: Longtime the Manxome Foe He Sought
http://jessicadakin.blogspot.com/2011/07/longtime-manxome-foe-he-sought.html
Wherever You Go, There You Are. Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Longtime the Manxome Foe He Sought. The other sources of discontent come from simply being homesick. With Aaron's birthday a few days ago, my mom's surgery yesterday, and my 4th wedding anniversary tomorrow, I just feel sad and disconnected from my sources of strength. As it is so cliche, I have to say, This too, shall pass, and things will move forward in this city of spires. And through and through. The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! I have a ...

Wherever You Go, There You Are. Friday, July 29, 2011. Things Never Happen the Same Way Twice". When you get used to a place it becomes. Routine, and that familiarity leads to complacency, but not with the friendships that have formed. Forever thankful for the people who surround me who give me laughter and love. It isn't Narnia, you know," sobbed Lucy. "It's you. We shan't meet you there. And how can we live, never meeting you? Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Longtime the Manxome Foe He Sought. A stage, where...

Wherever You Go, There You Are. Wednesday, January 16, 2008. And the Dream Becomes a Reality. When was the last time you asked yourself, or those around you, if Martin Luther King, Jr's speech had succeeded in becoming more than words? But I think that's the whole point. These are not forced interactions and they are not Kumbaya circles responding to themes from To Kill a Mockingbird. Absolutely. Don't you? Do they have opinions about immigration? Sunday, January 13, 2008. The bottom line is this: do I s...
Wherever You Go, There You Are: "The Devil Can Cite Scripture for His Purpose"
http://jessicadakin.blogspot.com/2011/07/devil-can-cite-scripture-for-his.html
Wherever You Go, There You Are. Friday, July 08, 2011. The Devil Can Cite Scripture for His Purpose". Much anticipation for last night's performance of Merchant of Venice. And is it REALLY accurate to say that a southern belle suffers as much as a Jew? Or even MORE than a Jew? But maybe that's the point- in keeping true to Shakespeare's time, who would have cared if a Jew suffered, even the loss of his only child? I hold the world but as the world, Gratiano,-. A stage, where every man must play a part;.

Thursday, July 12, 2007. This too shall pass. Not to throw too many platitudes at you in one comment, but hang in there, buddy. it does (and will) get better. July 15, 2007 at 8:42 AM. Patience is virtue that I, too, am slowly learning as a result of this summer. I find it best to take a deep breath, find my zen spot, and quietly recognize that the harder I try to swim against the current that is presently my life, the more difficult things become. Wherever You Go, There You Are. Wednesday, November 15, 2006. How, exactly, did I manage to show my sophomores Hotel Rwanda. In my English class today? When it comes to one million slaughtered lives what constitutes an essential question? One of the required texts for 10th grade North Carolinians is Elie Wiesel's memoir of the Holocaust, Night. Thus, we enter my unit on genocide. My essential question on the first day of study was, How can literature combat violence in the world? Is my nose narrow enough?
a minor incident: April 2007
http://mincident.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 17, 2007. Referring to the Virginia shootings, a commentator on NPR said yesterday that "the narrative has already been written, it's just the details that need to be filled in.". Perhaps we simply go forth daily in a search or a stumble for details. I'm not sure I believe that, but it made me think. Who writes a real-life narrative-the character or the storyteller? Or, perhaps neither? Thursday, April 12, 2007. And I remember how I would always refer to her boyfriends. Yesterday by Paul G...

Wherever You Go, There You Are. Monday, May 17, 2010. Ok, I experimented with round one, and now I think I have a much better game plan, thanks to some lovely suggestions by you friends and family! I ended up sauteing onions, butter, olive oil until soft, then finished it off with syrup. VERY good, especially the smokiness of the onions. It was too sweet, though, and I need it to be much less. This time, I will keep the crumbles of cheese IN the patty (they were delicious! Keep the suggestions coming!

My practice pivots around narrative and the articulation of space through architecture. As the architecture of a space is dictated by functionality, I am interested in the forms and structures used in architecture that articulate the purpose, history and, as a result, the narrative of the space. 8211; Born 25 Jan 1991, Nottingham. 8211; A Levels in Fine Art and English Literature, Rushcliffe School, Nottingham, 2009. 8211; Foundation Degree in Art and Design, South Nottingham College, Nottingham, 2010.

Once again, my life has been so insanely busy that I've completely forgotten to update this blog in over a month! Along the way we stopped at Theresienstadt concentration camp and learned about Nazi camps throughout Europe....
