http://readmrsd.blogspot.com/2012/03/its-spring.html
Putting smiles on faces :). A newly-minted children's librarian shares her adventures in the storytime room. Well, it was spring when I was reading these stories! We had a week and a half of very unusual weather for March in this part of the Midwest - several days we had temperatures in the 80's! This morning, however, it was less than 40. back to reality! I asked the children if they knew what season it was? What season brings all the flowers out? This book is more of a poem than it is a proper story, b...

I felt that way when reading. If I knew the work he was talking about, then the chapter was definitely more interesting to me. If I didn't know the work, I appreciated Foster's plot summary and explanation, but the chapter didn't mean as much. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog.

A Womb of One's own: April 2012
http://wombofonesone.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
A Womb of One's own. Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Who is the source of stress here? Sometimes I think I should rename this blog 'fumbling through motherhood'.I've spent many an hour racking my brains over the source of my child's meltdowns in the morning on the days I go to work and every night when I make dinner. They began around 12 months old and now, at 29 months continue on a mostly daily basis. The person that I most wish I could talk with about my role as a mother is my grandmother. A person, who,...

A Womb of One's own. Saturday, July 21, 2012. Should be we surprised by this? Another day of buzz on the interwebs. This one is a true tragedy; the shooting in Aurora, CO at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie. A line from an article. Frankly, the concept of violence extends all the way down to children's clothes. In recent years a trend has emerged of the use of camouflage in boys and girls clothing. For girls, of course it has the ever-present pink added in, but for boys it is straight u...Ben a...

Some books stick with you and you feel all happy and warm and fuzzy inside when you finish. Others make you grab boxes of tissues. This one stayed with me, but not in a way I've experienced before. I just enjoyed it. I was glad to have gone on the journey with Charlie. It's hard to really describe this little book. Bu...

Millie's Musings
Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Can't Keep the Rain Off of My Back. I can't keep this rain. Off of my back. The rain that comes down. Mostly, it comes down. In great big torrents. Occasionally in very little amounts. But both as cold and biting. As the winter wind. If I had a choice. I would move out from under. But I can't escape it. It will dwindle slowly. As fierce and dark. Over my hung head. This cloud of depression. Only to be pushed back. And to come again. To be pushed back once more. To hold it off.

I read books. Lots of 'em. So long, and thanks for all the books. It is with mixed emotions that I report on this, the tenth (! Anniversary of emilyreads.com, that I am taking a break from the blog. Running this blog introduced me to the broader book-blogging community, particularly the Cybils. Crew Being a second-round judge for the Cybils for nearly its entire history was super fun for me, and gave me much more exposure to SFF and graphic novels (a new favorite genre! Than I would have had otherwise.
