Emily's Culinary Adventures

Thursday, August 3, 2017. Freezer Adventures: Roasted Duck Red Curry. How (Not) To Cook For One - Prosciutto, Cremini, and Pea Tortellini. Ive been making an effort lately to make small batches of amazing food when I have a craving.  Not filling up the freezer and/or forcing myself to eat the same meal (no matter how delicious) 8 times in a row. I think of it as cooking for one, but Im really bad at it.  Heres how it happens. Friday, September 23, 2016. Slow Roasted Tomatoes (And a Pasta to Use Them In).

Emily's Culinary Adventures: Everyday Yumminess: Double-Cut Pork Chops with Rustic Polenta and Chanterelle Cream

http://emilysculinaryadventures.blogspot.com/2015/03/everyday-yumminess-double-cut-pork_22.html

Sunday, March 22, 2015. Everyday Yumminess: Double-Cut Pork Chops with Rustic Polenta and Chanterelle Cream. The result was one of the best simple meals we've sat down to in a long time. The only problem was, I wasn't in the mood to do the whole "stirring frequently" for an hour part of the Anson Mills recipe. A little poking around on the internet confirmed that (of course) you can totally cook polenta sous vide. As with the polenta, I rapid-chilled the pork at the end of the cooking time. Instead o...

Emily's Culinary Adventures: Everyday Yumminess: Carnitas Hash with Eggs

http://emilysculinaryadventures.blogspot.com/2013/06/everyday-yumminess-carnitas-hash-with.html

Friday, June 28, 2013. Everyday Yumminess: Carnitas Hash with Eggs. This is one of those meals where I started with a recipe. I made this batch of carnitas sous vide (shocking, I know) rather than following the recipe I posted a while back. This mixture went onto a Silpat and into a moderate (375°F-ish) oven until the potatoes were tender and starting to brown. This is a great dish to make for guests if you want to trick them into thinking you worked super-hard preparing them breakfast. or just for y...

Monday, November 11, 2013. This probably won't come as a shock, given how seldom I have been posting lately, but I'm "officially" going to take a hiatus from this blog for a somewhere between a few months and forever. As I sign off for a while, here my all-time favorite post about the Pain Scale from Hyperbole and a Half. If you have pain issues, you'll understand. =). Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Emily's Culinary Adventures: February 2015

http://emilysculinaryadventures.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 8, 2015. Don't Call it a Comeback. Hello there. Long time no write. I've realized lately how much I miss posting here, so I'm going to try again and see how it goes. One of the most important (and most mentally challenging) changes was to stop shunning all prepared foods. When I first met Devin, I announced "There will NEVER. Be store-bought tater tots in my freezer! I make tater tots from scratch! From scratch is better! Probably not, (I suppose). All of us who love food also know about...

Thursday, October 29, 2009. This is my 100th blog posting, hurray! 2 of the Pumpkins. The last hayride to pumpkin town. Then, on Saturday, we had our annual pumpkin carving party. It was much smaller than in years past, mostly because we waited too long to put it together. Still, we had 8 or so people come over to mutilate some pumpkins and eat my homemade chili. It was a lot of fun, and we made some good ones. These are our jack-o-lanterns in the dark. Wednesday, October 14, 2009. You really get us!

Sunday, December 21, 2008. Snow Coverage and Soup. I just got done with work. On my day off. Thanks, snow! Because there's so much snow here, I had to take the bus to work. The schedules are off because it's so tough to drive. It took me nearly two hours to cover the 3 miles between my house and work. Normally it takes me ten minutes to drive it. You're probably asking yourself,"Max, why don't you just walk? 12-15 tomatillos (those little green Mexican tomato thingies). Cumin, chili powder, and coriander.

Friday, November 6, 2009. October 31st - The last day I shaved. November 6th - I am ugly. Obviously, the first two pictures were taken on Halloween, when we went out. I was originally planning on going as a Mexican wrestler, wearing the muscle suit I got couple of years ago and my Mexican wrestler mask. Below is a look at the devil costume I wore instead. The mask is something I got in Peru this year, and is meant to represent the devilish Spanish. November 6, 2009 at 4:57 PM. View my complete profile.

A quest to find the greatest pork carnitas taco known to man (within walking distance of our house). Last time, it was just Midge and myself, but the success of our first outing resulted in a larger crew of taco trawlers, including M, C, and B. Thursday, December 10, 2009. The Mystery of the Missing Lock. I get to the gym and put my jacket, hat, and gym bag in a locker inside the men's lock. Now I need to figure out what happened. How was my lock removed from the locker? Did someone watch me set the code? Does someone have a secret method of opening locks? Did I make a mistake and leave it unlocked? Why didn't they take my stuff? I give this whole experience one big question mark. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, April 21, 2014. My India Travels and Eats, Day 5. On day 5 in India, we woke up at our hotel in Khajuraho and headed out fairly early to see some temples. We were hooked up with a guide which we thought was weird since Veejay was showing us around the day before. Michael was ready to go! We took a car to some of the sights and I was able to get a quick photo of the colorful city of Khajuraho. As old as these temples are, I couldn't believe the details. We took a drive through Khajuraho then ended...

The Underground | Enabling you to live vicariously through me…

Enabling you to live vicariously through me…. I have roughly 30 hours left in London. There is snow on the ground and the high today was 30 degrees. What does this mean? This weekend is definitely bittersweet. I am going home to my family, my boyfriend, my friends, and Christmas… all of my favorite things combined! While I am sad to leave the amazing city of London, I am already making plans with some of my favorite people who I have not seen in a very long time. Some moments created by this arrangement ...
