Newer posts →. Writing And Emotional Resonance. So you’ve mastered show not tell, motivational reaction units and kicked the passive voice to the kerb. You understand structure, have an interesting protagonist and strong conflict, but still it all feels meh. With this in mind, I have recently been thinking about emotional resonance, what it is and how to accomplish it. How, then, do we go about creating these emotions in our audience? And for the bonus round question, ask yourself: How much and why will ...

Anna Chant – Author of 'Women of the Dark Ages' Historical Novels. About the Women of the Dark Ages. England’s patron saint. November 20, 2016. While Saint Edmund, a man who died rather than betray his country, is an excellent possibility for a new patron saint, he is not the only candidate. Others could include. Another small publisher closing, what’s going on? News came down recently that Samhain Publishing will be closi. Ng down. I don’t know the circumstances behind their decision, but they are certainly not the first small to mid-sized publisher to shut down in the past year. Most blame Amazon, and the self-publishing boom that we’re currently seeing. So the question becomes, how can these publishers stop their authors from leaving them in favor of self publishing? I have a theory. Continue reading →. May se...

Does music play a part in your writing? | Happy Authors Guild

https://bookbasics.wordpress.com/2015/08/06/does-music-play-a-part-in-your-writing

I always love the new book best, by May Burnett. Does music play a part in your writing? I rarely listen to the radio. My house is surrounded by too many trees to allow good reception. My car is eleven years old and the radio is… well it’s no Bose stereo sound system,. And since I have such a short drive to work, I usually don’t even bother turning the radio on. So how do I listen to the hottest tunes? Like it goes with my story, many of which contain lyrics appropriate for my characters’ relationship.

Does music play a part in your writing? It’s all about you! I DON’T HAVE TIME! So I asked around (very little) to see if someone would switch with me. Demi said she would if I needed her to, but then I started thinking about it. Even though I have a million other things to get done for this weekend, I could still do it. What’s a few hundred words after all? I wrote about 300 just a few days ago while chatting online with a couple of friends who were highly distracting. And it only took a few minutes.

My Spiritual Journey

Saturday, July 14, 2012. We had our mid-project banquet on the 4. This week’s prayer country is France. Christianity in France is greatly decreasing every year and they are having a hard time finding the “meaning of life” and how to stand firmly as a Christian. So if you’d like you can pray for them, it would be appreciated. Well three weeks left, meaning crunch time! It is time to share the gospel and be intentional with our time—I can definitely use prayer to stay intentional and focused. This week at ...

Emily Weak | Action Librarian

Prior to becoming a librarian, I was variously: a circus student, a cheesemonger, and a grocery store manager. Pretty much the only legacies from my past are a love of good food (especially cheese) and a decent back bend. As of the end of September 2015, I am an adult services librarian for the Oakland Public Library. I’m super excited to be able to bike to work. I founded and wrote the blog Hiring Librarians. I work with a loose knit group of librarians with bikes to organize semi-regular monthly rides&...
