Tuesday, 4 September 2012. It's All In Your Head. Last night I ran the workshop at my writing group, we all take turns and it keeps things interesting. I'd put a lot of thought into this one and I was rather nervous about the reaction I might get, as usual though the group rose to the challenge and all produced work of a high standard. York isn’t a particularly dark or menacing place. It’s actually rather bourgeois, which is probably why I enjoyed twisting its imagery so much, transforming this place from a city into a cadaver. So many buried piles of bones. You can paint over it with a veneer of gentile suburban politeness. But you can’t mask the smell.
