Smiling in the sunshine state. I like heading home to brissie. but my excitement of catching up with family and friends is always balanced against returning to a city that i’ve never loved. it’s not that i dislike brissie – it was a great place to grow up and i have great mates there – it’s just that i so often felt like i didn’t belong. During my recent trip home however, i felt a change in my emotions. i was in town for 3 fantastic nights and caught up with so many great friends. While returning to syd...

patatachap: Just Like You - Love Knows No Difference

Just Like You - Love Knows No Difference. The last few months have been an amazing period of time for Piero. And me. It’s been challenging, new and insanely busy – which has come with it sacrifices – but it’s been a period of where we’ve lived in the possibility. Rather than in acceptance of the status quo. Late last year, Piero decided to host a photography exhibition in support of the Australian Marriage Equality. Suddenly made perfect sense. And so Just Like You. With similar exhibitions planned for o...

Nervous. i was nervous! I knew what i wanted, i was 99% sure piero would say yes, but i was nervous. I knew that when i asked, i wanted to ask piero. Overseas. as our relationship had taken in continents and countless countries, it felt fitting that the proposal should happen overseas. We were heading to the uk for a. We were heading to sardinia to visit piero’s family but i didn’t know if we would have any alone time there. that left our one week in greece! With all those options out, that left santorini.

Wood trees. clarity. The thing with blogging is that when you haven’t blogged in while (say 6 months or so.), it becomes a ‘thing’ on your ‘to do’ list. Not a ‘must catch up with so-and-so’ thing but more like a ‘must wash the windows’ thing. suddenly, it’s a chore. So it’s been six months, where to begin? I guess, the only thing i can say is that it’s been a challenging few months. Life is too short to not notice the beauty i see every morning i walk to work -. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). He said 'you l...

And i were discussing our life-to-be-in-sydney , we came up with a phrase: young, urban, professional. That was who we wanted to be. we would use these three words to dictate purchasing decisions and to make lifestyle choices. 12-months-ago, when we were looking for a flat to rent, a friend was helping us. we told him about our mantra and he gave us ‘that’ look. I’ve seen enough friends move back to australia to know what i wanted. Part of our grand sydney plan. Piero are you getting a bonus this year?

patatachap: Then one day in a sweaty Mexican restaurant-cum-nightclub
http://patatachap.blogspot.com/2013/03/then-one-day-in-sweaty-mexican.html
Then one day in a sweaty Mexican restaurant-cum-nightclub. Last Wednesday I caught up with a wonderful friend who sadly I had lost touch with over the years. But a stranger she did not remain for long. But like so many people do at some stage, Katherine was tiring of London (she had lived there most of her life) and decided to head to Devon to live and work an idyllic life. Sadly, we then managed to lose touch. There was email and Facebook of course, but the connection sadly faded. Last week, Katherine v...

When i moved to london, i loved the city instantly. I loved the history, the people, the buildings, the boroughs and most of all the sense of adventure that my life suddenly had. don’t get me wrong, there were tough moments – indeed some of the lowest moments of my life – but i knew that london was where i needed to be. I was pondering this the other day and the answer came to me: i’m still in transition. 8211; and i think it always will – for the city that made me who i am. Two thousand and zen. I read ...

Let’s play catch up. I may not have blogged but the last 6 months have been busy! Here’s a little snapshot. For christmas, piero, emily and i drove up to brisbane. To spend it with our families. my brother and his family. Also headed to brisbane so the highlight was, as it seems to always be at family events these days, seeing my adorable ever-growing, nephew jack. On the way back to sydney, we stayed at the gold coast and caught up with old friends jayde and peter. And his wife thimitra. Guzzled it up i...

This morning was another pound-the-streets-in-search-of-the-dream-flat-morning. we saw five; two are potentials. as always, we broke it up with coffees here, green tea there and even a spot of lunch. but it wasn’t the flats that got my attention. Today, it was the jacaranda trees. As this city edges through spring, the jacarandas are bloomin’. There’s something spectacular about one of these trees in flower. their loud-in-your-face-purple. Yet delicate flowers spectacularly clash. P and Riley St. Ever wo...
