Easter Road Trip: Piran and Porto Roz, Slovenia
http://emmabranoeaster.blogspot.com/2008/04/piran-and-porto-roz-slovenia.html
Brano and I took a 5-day trip and discovered just how close we are to some magnificent sites. Saturday, April 5, 2008. Piran and Porto Roz, Slovenia. In the morning the rain still persisted and we checked out of our apartment. Finding a ticket for our parked car, we decided to head over the valley to the Slovenian coast or Istria as its small 40km stretch is known, which is literally a couple of bays away. We took the long route to try to take a picture through the rain…. Tower, church, and sea.

Heinz's in Georgia: Monday -- Pontooning, Star Gazing
http://heinzingeorgia.blogspot.com/2008/08/monday-pontooning-star-gazing.html
Monday - Pontooning, Star Gazing. On Monday morning, after having a nice social breakfast and doing our ritual making of the sandwiches (which, by the way, my father has down to such a science that subway should hire him as a consultant or Master Sandwich Artist), we excitedly boarded the big black van for a ride to Lake Burton and a half day on a pontoon boat. After dinner, we went outside for some star gazing and cookie eating. We chatted and danced under the blue ridge sky. For the third year in a row...

Heinz's in Georgia: Friday -- Walking, Swimming, Sliding
http://heinzingeorgia.blogspot.com/2008/08/friday-walking-swimming-sliding.html
Friday - Walking, Swimming, Sliding. Our mornings often started slowly, with a walk through the cabin area and a good breakfast. The cabin area in the hills near the Unicoi state park consists of a number of large cabins with log facades. They are scattered about and new, each having its own little differentiations – a hot tub, different windows and different views of the mountains. A pajama walk with Aunty and Frank. Granny and Brano capture the morning quiet. Morning poses for Gran and Early. Charlie M...

Easter Road Trip: Venice, Italy
http://emmabranoeaster.blogspot.com/2008/04/venice-italy.html
Brano and I took a 5-day trip and discovered just how close we are to some magnificent sites. Saturday, April 5, 2008. Because we had already had our fix of driving in Italy, we decided to take the train from Trieste to Venice (about two hours). Driving in Italy is an art that many foreigners shouldn’t partake in and after having figured out the car in Triete, we didn’t feel the need to try again in a different city where cars aren’t even allowed. The winding streets offer such sights that words cannot s...

Skiing in the Alps: June 2005
http://beskiing.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Skiing in the Alps. I view skiing as an art form, Emma is more of a "why-the-hell-would-anyone-put-two-narrow-boards-on-their - feet-and-let-them-run-you-down-the-steep-slope" attitude, but I think she is learning how to enjoy it. We are, however, ever astonished by the majesty of the mountains and the ultimate creativity of the mother nature. Tuesday, June 21, 2005. 3203 meters above the sea level - our skiing resort (those white snow plains up there). The Alps above Salzburgland.

Easter Road Trip: April 2008
http://emmabranoeaster.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Brano and I took a 5-day trip and discovered just how close we are to some magnificent sites. Saturday, April 5, 2008. Rogner Bad – Blumau, in Styria, Austria. We hit the road and drove almost to Graz, when we saw signs of the Rogner Bad – Blumau ( www.blumau.com. Although neither of us recognized the name, the design elements of the sign were clearly that of Hundertwasser, our beloved artist and architect. So, as good travelers in any road trip, we got off the highway and visited. A person in a rented a...
