Green Butterfingers' gardening experiences: Post-vacation harvest
http://greenbutterfingers.blogspot.com/2012/08/post-vacation-harvest.html
Green Butterfingers' gardening experiences. Sunday, August 12, 2012. What survives, survives. In this case, it was summer squash and greengages which greeted me on arrival. Not as many greengages as last year. But they alternate in years. There are a few tomatoes which should be ready in a couple of weeks (good for the cold and rainy weather we've been having) and the raspberries are gearing up for another harvest. Green Butterfingers' gardening experiences: Planted!
http://greenbutterfingers.blogspot.com/2012/05/planted.html
Green Butterfingers' gardening experiences. Saturday, May 19, 2012. Finally the weather is improving and I had some time so the great planting exercise of 2012 was launched. Everything went in at once because it's really late in the gardening year to get going. In the back of the garden we have rows of carrots, white beetroot and kale, topped off with patty pan squash, zucchini, and a mysterious plant which could be one or the other (a snail ate the label off the pot so I couldn't tell). Green yet butter...

Green Butterfingers' gardening experiences: May 2011
http://greenbutterfingers.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Green Butterfingers' gardening experiences. Saturday, May 21, 2011. This weather is crazy. It's been so warm and, especially, dry that everything is at least a month in advance. The kniphofia. However, the gamble with the tomatoes and patty pan squash last month paid off. They are not that big yet but then again it's still early days. I spotted the first flower buds on one of the tomatoes today. I managed to mix them all up and didn't label them so it'll be a surprise when they ripen. Links to this post.

Green Butterfingers' gardening experiences. Sunday, February 26, 2012. Getting an early start means also that the tomatoes have a chance to ripen before September :) Have got some very early ripening ones this year so see how that goes. More stuff to sow but they can go into the greenhouse or direct into the soil. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Collards. summer squash. View my complete profile. A Patch of Dirt. Things I Learned or Made Up: March 2007
http://learnedordreamed.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Things I Learned or Made Up. Some things that I have learned recently, and some other things that I have made up recently. Wednesday, 28 March 2007. States that scientific laws are typically named after the second. Person to have discovered them, or else the person who promoted someone else's original idea rather more successfully. For example, Haley didn't discover Haley's comet, nor did Planck invent Planck's constant. And finally nor did Stigler invent Stigler's law. Links to this post. 800 grams of b...

Things I Learned or Made Up. Some things that I have learned recently, and some other things that I have made up recently. Monday, 14 July 2008. Tim Spicer, OBE. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire Colonel Tim Spicer. Well, finding him shouldn't be too hard: he's here. Staring moodily into the middle distance. Hiring him may cost you a few bob though. According to my faded copy of the Grauniad. Suing said governments when they fail to cough up is re...

Things I Learned or Made Up: April 2007

Things I Learned or Made Up. Some things that I have learned recently, and some other things that I have made up recently. Thursday, 26 April 2007. Those crazy Spanish academics in Barcelona have figured out why green tea is good for you. Apparently, it's because of "an extremely narrow adiabatic potential-energy profile corresponding to the hydrogen abstraction by the peroxyl radical," which is much as I always expected. I once took part in a study at UCL. The Dormouse in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

So apparently, it's illegal to "profess" that one belongs to a proscribed organisation. I'm part of the Abu Sayyaf Group, and have a note to prove it. (Although according to the Home Office list. The "precise aims of Abu Sayyaf Group are unclear".). Coming a bit closer to home, I was briefly a member of Cumann na mBan. Profess...
