From the Sorrento Fire Department. FROM THE SORRENTO FIRE DEPARTMENT. Commercial burn permits are available October 15 and expire on April 15. You are required by Maine law to have a permit to burn, even for a small pile of grass clippings or leaves. A Forestry Warden will be called if you burn without a permit, possibly resulting in you being summonsed to court and fined. The person who signs the fire permit is responsible for the fire.
