Little Farmhouse in the Big City: harvest at the farmhouse
http://littlefarmhouseinthebigcity.blogspot.com/2013/09/harvest-at-farmhouse.html
Little Farmhouse in the Big City. Friday, September 27, 2013. Harvest at the farmhouse. It's been both a great season in the garden and a meh season. From a late start planting to another drought, my grass and trees are struggling while my squirrels get the best tomatoes! But this summer's growing experience did convince me it's time to cut down a few trees in the back to allow more sunlight in the garden. And my lawn has looked great most of the summer thanks to the fancy new mower/mulcher! LFITBC is a ...

http://littlefarmhouseinthebigcity.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Little Farmhouse in the Big City. Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Words cannot really describe what my street, neighborhood, entire city look like after a devastating storm last Friday night. So here are some numbers and photos instead. 130-year-old (someone counted the rings! Elm tree, which hit 2 cars on its way down. Just one of three trees on our block to fall all the way across the road. Over 600,000 Minnesotans without power (some still don't have service back). Luckily, I also had:. And tonight while I ...

{{no room for squares}}: hot lulu
http://bfrannyd.blogspot.com/2010/11/hot-lulu.html
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.". This is a household saying in my apartment. it started when i taught my roommates how to use the cable/tv/dvd player. instead of just turning on the tv for them, i taught them the ways so that they too would be able to eat for a lifetime, if you will. Tonight ruth returned the favor and taught me how to fish. meaning she helped me use her sewing machine. that's right, i got crafty. November 14, 2010 at 10:06 PM.

{{no room for squares}}: 4 minutes or less
http://bfrannyd.blogspot.com/2011/01/4-minutes-or-less.html
4 minutes or less. On the east coast it is winter. Contrary to the many sale emails i’m sure you’re receiving, it is not the time for an end of the season sale – this is just the beginning. All that to say that bundling is the name of the game. and do you know what goes perfectly with bundling? A hot cup of sleepy time tea and a hot lulu. A hot lulu takes four minutes to heat. Here is a list of what i discovered i can do in 4 minutes. Write a thank you letter. Stretch my tendons, flex my toes. A CUP OF JO.

30 days. 100 pages. are you in? I like to surround myself with encouragement and affirmation. one of my greatest sources of affirmation is none other than my roommate and friend, meg-o potato. Bam new nickname implemented, you can’t stop it}. while a normal dose of affirmation is unarguably a good thing, in potato and my case it often leads to inflated egos. Sometimes i sit back and imagine what affirmation in a normal friendship would look like. i imagine the following statements being made:. I would fi...

{{no room for squares}}: fall back
http://bfrannyd.blogspot.com/2010/11/fall-back.html
I love fall back. I may not be singing praises later today at 4:30 when it’s dark outside, but right now, i’m loving it. I wish that i was a morning person. I can fake it from time to time, but it’s always just a sham of morning perkiness. Not so when it’s time for fall back {and approximately 2.5 days afterwards}. A short list of why i love fall back and the hope it inspires in me, making me believe for a brief moment that it is possible for me to be a morning person {it’s not}:. My morning so far:.

I was writing a contract today for replacing the carpet in my building. the carpets will be burnt orange and commotion. What color, i wonder, is "commotion" and, more importantly, will it match my orange wall? New office, new flowers! Have oprah's favorite flowers accidentally become my new favorite? Please note the charles river in the background:. Any recommendations for house plants welcomed! Barbecue your face off. Spring is here and what better way to embrace it than a barbecue at windsor palace!

Little Farmhouse in the Big City: these apples, those apples, all the apples
http://littlefarmhouseinthebigcity.blogspot.com/2013/10/these-apples-those-apples-all-apples.html
Little Farmhouse in the Big City. Monday, October 21, 2013. These apples, those apples, all the apples. This is called Apple Day at the Farmhouse. It's a real thing. These are the adorable mini caramel apple crumbles that Magdalena made without a recipe (she's brilliant at that sort of thing). This is the most high-maintenance, but delicious, apple pie you've ever met in your life. I went to five liquor stores to find the apple brandy for the sauce. Aprons are a must. This is the apple jam.
