The Voxel Chronicles was a solo project which ceased development in April of 2012. The game uses a component-based engine I started working on in September 2011, relying on Assimp, Bullet Physics, CEGUI, DirectX 11 and OpenAL to get the job done. Particles were handled on the GPU via DirectCompute and the A* variant known as JPS was implemented for pathfinding. For one of my graphics courses I wrote a shader that renders refractive surfaces in DX 11. My technique is loosely based on Chris Wyman’s paper Interactive Image-Space Refraction of Nearby Geometry… it’s just hacked up a bit to be faster and simpler (I am not nearly as smart as that guy.). In 2012 I developed an unhealthy obsession with steamgifts. One of the ‘problems’ with this site is that you accumulate points over time, but only when you have fewer than 300 on your account. The solution? Using C#, Selenium, Firefox and SQLite I wrote an application which periodically scrapes and enters contests. I previously added support for Gala Giveaways. Though I haven’t updated the codebase to account for CSS changes on those sites (I’ve been too busy working on my MSCS thesis.). Action Log, timer.

I got inspired by Pokemon Fusion. A few months ago. The gist is that I use simulated annealing to randomly place sprites (or images) in order to generate a collage which approximates the input image – I started with Pokémon sprites, but I’ve also tested it using artwork from Super Mario Brothers, Metroid and Etrian Odyssey.
