Emotional Ghetto Blog: September 2010
http://emotionalghetto.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 23, 2010. When one door closes, another one opens. Since Adam has gone away to University, we've all had to adjust to the change. Tonight, Aaron, Lou and I are watching TV together. There's a new "favourite" show that comes on every night that we try not to miss. As we sit here tonight, the three of us, with Aaron in the middle position, I think about the recent changes in our life. While it was difficult to see Adam go, I can see that we have gradually eased into a new routine. OkayI...

Emotional Ghetto Blog: January 2011
http://emotionalghetto.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. Sunday, January 23, 2011. There was a lot of buzz last week when author Amy Chua released her book called "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother". I haven't read the book, nor do I intend to. From what I gather, the book describes that extreme parenting methods will result in perfect and successful children. Parents from all over began to question their own parenting style, wondering if we North Americans are too relaxed in our ways, resulting in unsuccessful children. I could have of...

Emotional Ghetto Blog: The "R" Word is a Bad Word
http://emotionalghetto.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-r-word-is-bad-word.html
Tuesday, October 30, 2012. The "R" Word is a Bad Word. It’s happened again. Another celebrity has used the “r” word. This time it was shock-seeking journalist Ann Coulter who described President Obama as “retarded.” During an interview on Inside Edition she was asked if she was sorry about using the word. She emphatically replied “no! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The R Word is a Bad Word. I remember the first time that I saw Dennis Fairal.

Emotional Ghetto Blog: Whatever you do...don't give in!
http://emotionalghetto.blogspot.com/2011/10/whatever-you-dodont-give-in.html
Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Whatever you do.don't give in! My 9 year old son Aaron has recently discovered a new on-line game. Until a week ago his on-line activity was very minimal and he was okay with that. I was too! Last week we got the new iPad loaded up with games and various "apps" (a brand new word in my vocabulary) and since then he has been extremely interested in a game. I knew there was a problem when he woke up this morning and the first thing he asked was "can I harvest my tomatoes? Subscribe...

Sunday, February 20, 2011. Life Coaching Thought for the Week: There is no coincidence! Thanks to my wonderful brother-in-law Dave, we were privileged this week to attend a Windsor Spitfire's hockey game. A couple of hours before the game, my son Aaron asked, "Mom, if we catch a puck at the game, can we keep it? I replied, "I think so.". I mentioned that my brother-in-law was great? Our seats were right behind the visiting team's bench! A puck flew toward the visitor's bench and the coach caught it!

Emotional Ghetto Blog: July 2010

Thursday, July 29, 2010. Talking to your teenager does pay off. About 2o years ago the Teen Health Centre was established in our community. I remember reading an article about it in the local newspaper and more specifically remember a quote from Dr. Andrea Steen, one of the initial on-site physicians. I have always kept this advice close to my heart and as I guide my 18 year old son Adam toward his journey into adulthood, I have taken these words very serious. At times I am feeling like a broken record.
