Emptying Our Nest: May 2008 -- The Month of Living Crappily

http://emptyingournest.blogspot.com/2008/05/may-2008-month-of-living-crappily.html

Tales from a mother whose kids will soon fly the coop. Thursday, May 29, 2008. May 2008 - The Month of Living Crappily. I used to blog here. Then some stuff happened, and some other stuff happened, and some of it I could talk about because it happened to me, but other parts of it I couldn't talk about because they happened to someone else, and in the World According to Betsy Bird, you only have free rein to blog about it if it's your stuff. If it's someone else's, maybe not. And then I got bronchitis.

Emptying Our Nest: Maybe I Should Not Post More Often

http://emptyingournest.blogspot.com/2008/05/maybe-i-should-not-post-more-often.html

Tales from a mother whose kids will soon fly the coop. Friday, May 30, 2008. Maybe I Should Not Post More Often. Life in disarray,. Blog abandoned for nine days. Posted by Betsy Bird. June 2, 2008 at 5:32 PM. For some reason, my reader hasn't been picking up your posts. Grr. So I'm going to re-subscribe and see if that works. Anyway, I'm catching up on your most recent posts. I hope you're feeling better and that the antibiotics did their work. (Even if the urgent care doctor didnt'). Because I Said So.

Tales from a mother whose kids will soon fly the coop. Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Five Things I've Learned While Training for a 5K. 5 Running takes a lot of time. Especially if you are slow. This is something I know something - actually a great deal - about. I am VERY slow. So slow that there is, as of yet, no font size sufficiently small to allow me to type for publication just exactly how long it takes me to run a given distance. 4 Running makes you hungry. As I said, running takes a lot of time. And ther...

Emptying Our Nest: January 2008

http://emptyingournest.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Tales from a mother whose kids will soon fly the coop. Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Number 19 on My List. So I’m not making excuses. Actually, I am making excuses, but they’re good ones. In the last 72 hours, I have:. 1) Attempted to bake a savarin. With Ben for his French class. 2) Re-attempted to bake a savarin. With Ben for his French class, after the “dough” for the first one remained liquid despite the addition of copious amounts of unauthorized flour. 3) Eaten part of a savarin. 6) Responded to pho...

Emptying Our Nest: March 2008

http://emptyingournest.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Tales from a mother whose kids will soon fly the coop. Monday, March 31, 2008. Maybe I Should Do Like That Guy in Memento. I was born about 100 years too late. And here's why that's important: I WOULDN'T NEED A CALENDAR. This is on my mind today because I have lost. Mine A few days ago I began to have the vague sense that my calendar was missing. Now I've looked everywhere and it is Officially Lost. It's like saying "You Who? When people are talking about YouTube. It's also scary. A few. I really need to...

Emptying My Nest | My journey to simplicity

My journey to simplicity. July 20, 2014. Packing for a week in a carry-on. 3) I want to avoid waiting for our baggage. If we only have our carry-ons we can head directly to customs and be on our way to the beach in no time. My husband, being the “just in case” guy he is, blanched a little when I mentioned my idea. “But what about my toiletries? You can’t take razors on the plane, you know! This is what I’ve got to cram into my quart size bag: travel sized toothpaste, deodorant, saline solution, eye...

The Emptying Nest – A journey toward life after children

What’s In a Name? A journey toward life after children. This songbird’s wings are clipped. September 17, 2014. October 23, 2016. It’s choir season again – yay! I can’t work under these conditions! Well it’s time to stop whingeing and do something about it. Our last show was a monstrous demonstration of badly executed movement, compounded by a ridiculous array of costumes, all of which detracted from the beautiful (if I say so myself! Sound we work so hard to make. Posted in empty nesting. Both those thin...

Emptying The Bastille | don’t worry, we up the punx

Don’t worry, we up the punx. A poem about hipsters. Bull;May 17, 2010 • Leave a Comment. I heard you talking shit about pitchfork. I saw your ipod. You were listening to gang gang dance. You always talk about the importance of lady gaga. You have fashionable shoes, glasses, and clothes. Some day you’ll be a photographer. You know what’s important. Six months before they do. I read on your blog. That bloghouse was dead. I shed a single tear. I read on your blog that justice was over. On your vintage bike.

emptyingthebrain | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. February 14, 2012. Moment if ever there was one even as it gave me pause to think. At what point, as a parent, is it okay to loosen the strings on our children, if even only for a little bit? When your child begins to roll her eyes at you during conversations, it is a pretty good indicator that she might not be a child anymore. I am sure that I did it to my own parents. I don’t remember if it worked, but I’m sure I did it. As a parent, how and where do you draw that line?
