EnchantedGlassDesigns The Process

The first step is to decide on a design and draw to scale. Each piece of glass making up the panel is carefully selected for effects of colour and texture and cut to the pattern guidelines. Each piece of glass cut is ground for smooth edges and assistance for foil adhesion before it is foiled. This is a long and labourious process but important in the perfection of the panel, if anything is ever perfect. Generally I use a black backed 7/32 foil. And voilá . a new piece is born! Throughout its thousand-year history, the term has been applied almost exclusively to the windows of churches and other significant buildings. Modern usage has extended the term "stained glass" to include domestic leadlight and objets d'art created from lead came and copper foil glasswork exemplified in the famous Tiffany lamps. I, of course, make assorted sizes but generally I do not like to make larger than 770mm x 470mm. This sizing can be packed into specialty made boxes and posted through Aust Post, eliminating the need for a costly courier. You might like to consider two panels with the pattern flowing, if your required panel size is very large. You can see the work I currently have for immediate sale at glass-enchantment. I live on a peaceful island on the Queensland coast with my beloved cats, two Choccy Point Siamese and a Devon Rex. I am a lover of animals, nature and art and a keen gardener.
