Thursday, February 10, 2011. So rich and textured, I'm ready to jump in. Day 3- early morning drive. I bow down to one of those breathtaking sunrises, the kind I haven't seen since I was in Tsavo three years ago. Breathe. Right away, the 111 on the rear end of the impala flashes before us- the easiest way to ID them-another Lilac Breasted Roller- such soft, pastels to compliment the early morning sky. A kneeling mother warthog nurses her babies, and this makes even the old mama look absolutely tender.

Friday, July 23, 2010. Speeding cars, ancient ruins and saganaki. LA to Heathrow. Heathrow to Athens. Wonderfully uneventful. Love British Air and the personalized screens. Movies and conversation with a wonderful couple from New Zealand. To hotel—ride through the Athens. Should have been my first clue as to the craziness of the city—speeding cars, zig-zagging motorcycles, lack of street signs (all which will almost make me insane later when I myself first drive through Athens! And I am so grateful.
