The Big Shwop Blog. March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am. Love the idea of these – two in one shoe, a ballet flat and a stiletto. Wear them out for the night and just pack away the heels when you’ve had enough. Or, wear the flats to work and slip on the heels for some clubbing. Clever. In the meantime, here’s to the continuation of shoe evolution – from mean to green. Shoes from Nael Coce. The Big Shwop Blog. Downsize me/The Wardrobe diet. Step Two: Scarves. February 10, 2012 at 12:30 pm. So, sorting out my scarves were a breeze. I knew I had heaps of these suckers. And boy was I right. But as I normally keep them stuffed in a bowling bag I never see exactly how many. And my after scarf situation. 11 scarves. Okay, so again, it’s not exactly minimal – but I have a feeling I will never be one of these people. But as long as I am not one of these people. All will be well. Subscribe to the co...

The Big Shwop Blog. February 4, 2012 at 9:07 am. There seems to be great deal on the web at the moment about doing more with less, and its really inspiring me. After reading about Andrew Hyde. Who owned only 15 things for a while ( he is currently up to a hoardworthy 39 things. I kind of think I have too much stuff. Well, actually that’s a lie. I KNOW I have too much stuff. Particularly too many clothes. The opposite of me is him. Becomes the audacious thing.”. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

The Big Shwop Blog. Downsize me/The Wardrobe diet. Step One: Dresses. February 9, 2012 at 12:13 pm. Okay So before we begin I suggest you pop back a couple of posts, and read about this guy. He owns a couple of handful of things and seems genuinely pleased to do so. So I vowed to share my journey toward having a bit more wardrobe zen with you. Okay, so here is my BEFORE situation. 34 dresses. Yes, 34. It was hard to get them all in the same shot, and this is the best I could do. I knew I had a pencha...

Seductive Marni at H & M | The Big Shwop Blog

The Big Shwop Blog. Seductive Marni at H & M. March 7, 2012 at 2:28 pm. Its this kind of campaign that rails me. Soooooo seductive. Hot-horse Sophia Coppola has directed the latest ad campaign for a collaborative range between the fashion house of Marni. And high street megastar H and M. And boy does it look gooooood. Hmmmm, maybe just the small fact that H and M haven’t paid their garment workers a living wage for making this s* t. Such a thin veneer of glamour over the labour behind the label. You are ...

The Big Shwop Blog. The Labour behind the label. November 22, 2011 at 4:19 pm. I have been awaiting something like this. An easily digestable account of the lengths that common high street labels are going to make sure that the people making their clothes are on a living wage. Or the shorts – most of them unfortunately aren’t going to any lengths at all. Labour behind the Labe. So what is a living wage? To move beyond pilot projects. Beyond Kew Gardens | The Big Shwop Blog
https://thebigshwop.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/beyond-kew-gardens
The Big Shwop Blog. March 28, 2012 at 4:02 pm. Back when I lived in London, I remember skulking around Kew Gardens on one cool autumn day. It was a lovely park and a lovely day. I never went back though. Strange really as I went past it on the District Line to Richmond countless, countless times. This series of videos takes you behind the trees and the glasshouses into the back of house of this splendid treasure of a place. Spend five minutes with people who study fungus at Kew. I was glad that I did.
