the chronic caper: Diary of a Mirena Removal
http://vintagelib.blogspot.com/2013/01/diary-of-mirena-removal.html
Sunday, January 13, 2013. Diary of a Mirena Removal. Depending on how sensitive you are, this post could potentially offend you with its detail about bodily functions. (That sentence actually makes it sound worse than it is, but yeh, just warning you. It's mainly written for the sake of other users of Mirena IUD - if you are family/a friend of mine that doesn't have endo or a Mirena, you probably really don't want to read this.)*. As I mentioned in my plans here. 2 mins: Oh my god that hurts like! 36 hou...

the chronic caper: Why are we still so silent on endometriosis?
http://vintagelib.blogspot.com/2015/04/why-are-we-still-so-silent-on.html
Thursday, April 2, 2015. Why are we still so silent on endometriosis? Today is World Autism Awareness Day. It's a day I probably wouldn't have given a second thought if their awareness campaign didn't include taking a selfie while wearing blue, and I hadn’t just dyed my hair blue yesterday. Roughly 1 in 100 people have autism. 1 in 100. Endometriosis is five times. More common than autism. 1 in 10 women. So why is it, that when I mention endometriosis, every second person I talk to says “Endo-what? Was f...

the chronic caper: A plea to doctors everywhere
http://vintagelib.blogspot.com/2014/12/a-plea-to-doctors-everywhere.html
Tuesday, December 2, 2014. A plea to doctors everywhere. This is a post I wrote in May of 2013, but for some reason I never actually published it. Reading it now, after finding an amazing gynecologist. And, despite moving countries, finding a good GP who just gave me all the scripts I needed right away without challenging, I can still remembering how frustrating and soul-sucking it is to have to stand up for yourself over and over again when you know what is best for your body. So, what happened? The las...

the chronic caper: September 2014
http://vintagelib.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 28, 2014. I've moved to England! View of the castle on one of the many long walks from my college to town I have taken. So I've arrived in Durham. The last few days have been a hectic rush of trying to get everything sorted over here and settling in. Simple things like making dinner have become so much more challenging (not even factoring in the fact that the supermarket is a 40 min walk away and there is not a non-non-stick pan in sight.). Moving is hard. Everyone knows it is. And I fe...

the chronic caper: Endometriosis and feminine hygiene products: my campaign
http://vintagelib.blogspot.com/2012/10/endometriosis-and-feminine-hygiene.html
Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Endometriosis and feminine hygiene products: my campaign. On a recent trip to the supermarket, I noticed my pack of Libra pads had a sticker on it saying that they supported ovarian cancer research. This got me thinking - wouldn't that be a great avenue for endometriosis awareness? Any significant articles on period pain (eg in FAQ)? Any significant articles on period pain (eg in FAQ)? No, but there is a link to a similarly condescending "It's my body" website, sponsored by Sta...
