Too Scared To Help. It was wonderful; I shared and helped in a little way. Now why did I have all these reasons to say no to this simple request? It all boils down to what am I really risking, if it’s potential embarrassment, pride or a feeling that don’t have enough to offer, well that’s not acceptable. If it’s not dangerous, then it’s up to me to decipher the risk and remember what it feels like to be the one in need. May your choices reflect your hopes. Not your fears. Nelson Mandela.

What Did You Learn? Later I thought about this conversation and I realized what a gift this was. To be reassured that your experiences are valuable. How often do we stop and support a friend without giving advice or telling our own story? I wish I could say I did but often I am so ready to share my knowledge that I don’t stop to pause and say Hey that’s really cool. Thanks for telling me what you learned. And you know what else? What if I encouraged experiencing life and learning along the way?

Finding Black And White In The Gray. My Dad was a big advocate of getting out a piece of paper. Making two columns and writing down the pros and cons. That works fairly well, until, I factor in my emotions. Strangely enough there have been times when the answer is obvious on paper, but my feelings simply will not go along with the logic. Wow, that’s a tough place to be isn’t it? So what do you do when you have a cloudy puzzling dilemma? How do you make the right decision? That’s always our choice.
