Joshua Tree Traverse | Zoom Loco

You are the music while the music lasts… Steal the rhythm while you can. Quotes that inspire me. Old Zoom Loco Blog. La Jolla Half, 200 Proof Local. Till I Collapse: PCT 50 in Memorial of Tim Ray →. May 6, 2012. When holy people pray in the church, don’t they close their eyes? And then they can pray better, talk to God more clearly, without distractions? Even though the mantra everyone purports is “hike your own hike,” I did get some static for the pace I kept on the Appalachian Trail a dozen...Approache...

Weekend of Trails | Two Roads Diverged...
https://jesseroad.wordpress.com/2011/11/15/weekend-of-trails
Two Roads Diverged…. Just another WordPress.com site. What a weekend…. We got it started with a drive up to LA on Friday to work the timing for the Griffith Park Trail Half Marathon. View of downtown, Point Loma, and the Pacific from 16 miles inland. We capped off the ride with some great brews and ridiculous burgers at Urge Gastropub. Between the ride and Urge, I need to start spending more time in that area! What a perfect day…. Top of Raptor Ridge. Defending his turf with everything he's got! Toby Gui...

Excuses | Two Roads Diverged...

Two Roads Diverged…. Just another WordPress.com site. Everyday we arise with a million excuses in our mind that prevent us from living. Two Roads Diverged…. Just another WordPress.com site. Small Events, Big Results, Bigger Lessons. This was a great weekend for personal challenges for both Carrie and I. We’ve both been doing better with keeping a consistent training schedule and this weekend we finally got to test out our fitness levels. Hike UP to the start line! Going in to the weekend I was a little concerned simply because I hadn’t run long since the JTree Traverse. There were things being talked about such as Ultraman (that’s ...

Dirty Running: 50K Training Plan
http://dirtyrunning.blogspot.com/2014/01/50k-training-plan.html
Tl;dr version: go straight to the plan. I realized that I needed a plan. I needed something in the future, something clear and sharp in my mind to train for. Maybe someday I'll be one of those purists that can just run for miles and miles with no destination in sight, no plan, no watch, and no purpose except for running itself, but right now I need direction. My last race.about 8 months ago. I didn't want to get stuck in that "it's only a 50K" attitude. I'm kind of tired of the distance trumping ever...

Dirty Running: October 2014

My Jeep is a gas-guzzling, earth-f%$#ing beast, and if there’s not going to be a zombie apocalypse anytime soon, I should probably prep it for craigslist and trade it in for something more sensible, but I just can’t bring myself to wash the layers of dirt off and bring the military-brown paint to a shine. Dirty Running: January 2015
http://dirtyrunning.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
I usually try to conserve my energy before a group run. I’ll sit on the ground, tie and re-tie my shoes, and pretend to stretch. But this run was different, this was the first meeting of the Dirty Running Trail Animals, and this group would not abide the conservation of energy. Links to this post. I prefer the trail to the road, I prefer hills to flats, and I prefer dirty to clean. My favorite routes are winding, hilly, difficult, covered in rocks and branches that scrape and tear at my legs.
