Most of my work has been in the CBD so I have been going into town on the bus. On Monday I encountered these polar bears in Aotea Square:. Nicky had invited to library staff to afternoon tea to celebrate Matariki and the departure of a shelver who has has been a very welcome member of staff. We made food and much was brought and we had a very good couple of hours.

Nicky took Thursday morning off work (she later regretted not taking the whole day) for Christine’s funeral (she died last week). We went over to Henderson for that and Nicky thought it was good service, especially the choice of hymns. I cut the grass in the afternoon. The beginning and end of the week have been wet, but in-between we have had some lovely clear winter days, though a couple started with some fog. Things have been quieter at the library with the school’s having gone back, at least until 3-ish when they close. I have had another quiet week too, doing two on-site jobs which filled my Tuesday afternoon. Take care, Rick.

We have had rain at some point every weekday this week except for Thursday, which also happened to be the only day where I didn’t have some paid work. As a result, most of the washing was done on Thursday or dried inside, and July has ended up being a reasonable month for me. Today has been much wetter, so we have had a quiet day at home after Nicky came back from church.

As it has progressed the weather has improved, and on Tuesday the new series of The Great British Bake Off started (I don’t bother with the Oz imitation).
