Ngorongoro Crater - the worlds largest intact volcanic caldera and home to a remarable selection of animals

The Ngorongoro Crater is a large volcanic caldera within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania. The conservation area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater is the world's largest intact caldera with a diameter of about 19km and floor to rim up to 600m high. It was formed several million years ago when a huge volcano erupted and the cone collapsed in on itself. Lake Magadi is a soda lake within the crater which attracts large numbers of flamingos and a wide variety of other birds.

Zanzibar - the Spice Island. Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous series of islands a short distance off the coast of Tanzania. Zanzibar Island is the main island with the capital Stone Town on the western side. Stone Town has been designated a World Heritage Site for its manifestation of cultural fusion and its importance in the abolishment of slavery. Today, Zanzibar is a vibrant place, its beaches popular with tourists and famous for its spice plantations producing cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and black pepper.
