Based on this needs analysis the English Language Competency Framework was developed to address the needs of employees working in all departments and in all types of jobs in the energy and industry sector. The draft competency statements were circulated widely within the company and revised according to feedback received. After a series of meetings and investigations, the Team identified three projects:. A) Development of standardized, competency-based, in-house English language training and assessment materials for employees and trainees in the Energy and Industry sector. B) Matching of English language competencies to established job groups. This project was handled by a Job Families Team whose mandate was to build on QP s own experience of analyzing English competence levels in relation to Job Families (or groups).
