But the capital of Shushan, Esther chapter 3 records, was perplexed. When the righteous rule, the city rejoices. But at the seemingly random rulings that come down from wicked rulers, that are rooted in pride, liberality, and self-satisfaction, the city is perplexed. There are many correlations to modern-day democracy and government. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Institute of Photographic Studies.

The Power of Pretending. This evening found me at a costume party in celebration of Valentine's Day. My sister Gina and I went together as Mrs. and Miss Bates from Jane Austen's Emma. This evening has started me musing, however: Why do people like costume parties? What is it about pretending to be someone else that carries such innate appeal? Is it because you get to take on the persona of another life, with the freedom of knowing you won't have to live with it tomorrow? When you walk out the door to whe...

Hannah Chapman and Jeremy Tallo made the lifelong commitment to each other on November 24, 2007. The highlight for me was photographing their memorable wedding. Many blessings to both of you as you begin your life together! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Institute of Photographic Studies.

Deliver me, Jesus—from the desire to be praised, honored, glorified, preferred, consulted, or approved. Deliver me, Jesus, from the fear of being humiliated, criticized, forgotten, ridiculed, maltreated, and from the fear of what others will think. O Jesus, give me the grace to desire that others would be loved. And esteemed ahead of me, that in the eyes of the world they would increase while I decrease, and praised while I pass by unnoticed,. 8212;Charles de Foucauld. I love the fact that the white boar...

Blinding Flash of the Obvious #4. In Christ, I can't get any closer to God. A mind at perfect peace with God:. Oh, what a word is this! A sinner reconciled through blood:. This, this indeed is peace. By nature and by practice far,. How very far from God! Yet now by grace brought nigh to Him. Through faith in Jesus' blood. So nigh, so very nigh to God,. I cannot nearer be;. For in the person of His Son,. I am as near as He. So dear, so very dear to God,. More dear I cannot be;. Such is His love to me.

My brother Jonathan is a Senior Cadet Airman in the Civil Air Patrol, and just returned from two weeks of getting himself yelled at. He survived and thrived at Cadet Summer Encampment and Ground Search and Rescue Specialty School. For him, summer encampment was a big step toward his grand purpose of both physically and spiritually saving people. As he told me about the exercises, the maneuvers, and the scenarios, I eyed his freshly pressed uniform, ready for the next time he needs it. What does this mean?

Blinding Flash of the Obvious #2. I am the measure of my own potential. Let me explain. Several years ago, I found myself trying to work two full-time jobs and survive a five-credit college course. Margin didn't exist. I discovered that the only way to be moderately successful in this environment was to do it right the first time and not put things off. Have done and become. I had begun allowing myself to be content with "good enough," even though it was for the Most High King. Don't think that I'm advoc...

Blinding Flash of the Obvious #3. The Highest Goal of Biblical Womanhood Is the Exaltation of God's Word. In Bible study this morning, I read Titus 2. Familiarly, I am instructed to be sober, love my husband, love my children, be discreet, be chaste, be a keeper at home, be good, and be obedient to my own husband, all for this purpose: that the Word of God be not blasphemed. Mandy, I love your thoughts. :) And I love that passage of scripture. I love you dearly! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Fight, Climb, or. One night I had a wondrous dream,. One set of footprints there was seen,. The footprints of my precious Lord,. But mine were not along the shore. But then some stranger prints appeared,. And I asked the Lord, "What have we here? Those prints are large and round and neat,. But Lord they are too big for feet.". My child," He said in somber tones,. For miles I carried you alone. I challenged you to walk in faith,. But you refused and made me wait.". You disobeyed, you would not grow,.
