Eastport Pram

Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Finally got around to making the sail. Not a real professional job but one that will work. I used ripstop spinaker cloth and my wife's sewing machine. I used the pattern from the CLC boat plans. After I made all this stuff it seams they designed a completely different sail rig for the boat. After I take this boat out I'll look at the new new design. Saturday, May 23, 2015. Wednesday, April 22, 2015. One more part. The tiller. Made it from a chunk of red oak. Friday, April 17, 2015.

Eastport Pram: March 2015

http://www.eppram.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 8, 2015. Got most of the wood in the boat. Took a bit to fit the seats and the CB case but we got there. I'll glue everything in this week. Lot's of sanding to come. We have to get some better weather for that. I do the sanding outside. The weather is finally starting to get better. I got the seats glued in and will get the boat outside for resin, sanding, and varnish. Thursday, March 5, 2015. Inwales, outwales, skegs, and skids. Dry fit the interior. You can never have enough clamps. Inwal...

Eastport Pram: Paint!

http://www.eppram.blogspot.com/2015/04/paint.html

Friday, April 17, 2015. I finally got some paint on the boat. Two coats of resin first plus a round of sanding. I also made the centerboard and the rudder. They both need finishing but the rough forms are done. I had enough 6 mil ply leftover from the Coot dingy to make all the parts. Second coat of paint. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Alberg 30 Restoration: Another ladder update

http://alberg30129.blogspot.com/2015/03/another-ladder-update.html

Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Finally, it's March! Good deal all around. They also fit and did the job! I also refinished the motor cover. I skinned the original with 3 mil Ocume. I'll varnish everything when I can get outside. March 11, 2015 at 3:52 PM. Now you need a nice Persian rug for the cockpit sole! March 11, 2015 at 7:51 PM. Actually, I am looking for a rug for the sole. Smart ass. March 12, 2015 at 7:38 PM. I read you like a book! March 12, 2015 at 12:15 AM. March 12, 2015 at 10:09 PM.

Alberg 30 Restoration: November 2014

http://alberg30129.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Last post for 2014. We decided to change marinas for next season and the new marina gave us a deal that we could not refuse so we moved the boat. Easy trip from one side of the bay bridge to the other. We were on the Magothy river and now we changed to Whitehall creek. This marina is at the end of the creek in a well protected cove so we decided to winter in the water. This is my curent project. A dingy for the Alberg. Aproching the bay bridge. Alberg 30 Restoration: January 2014

http://alberg30129.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 18, 2014. Bottom of rudder. Bronze rudder shaft with tapped threads. Pin in the rudder. The only attachment to the boat was the gudgeon at the mid station of the rudder and the pin that held the two together was worn in half. The plan of attack was to remove the rudder and see how to fix the pin and renue the gudgeon. Removing these screws became a big problem. The biggest screwdriver was not big enough! Gudgeon were next. Four bolts that came apart relatively easy.

Alberg 30 Restoration: February 2015

http://alberg30129.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 9, 2015. I'm also trying to refinish the cabin sole. The teak is like iron. I've gone thru two 60 grit belts on my favorite tool. The belt sander. Edges and corners get done with a multi tool. Works great. I'll keep hammering at this until I see better results. Sunday, February 1, 2015. Ladder in the folded up position. Alberg 30 Restoration: March 2015

http://alberg30129.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 19, 2015. Ladder in the boat. I got to the boat and put all the parts back together. The motor cover supports also got a strip of the ocume ply so everything matches. The feet holding off the ladder need some felt pads so they don't scratch but other than that this project is done. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Finally, it's March! Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Sunday, May 25, 2014. Monday, May 19, 2014. Also figured we needed an annoying video to go along with that. Monday, May 12, 2014. The marina dropped us overboard this morning. Scary thing is the marina owner was driving the travel lift. I think finding good help in this industry is hard to come by. The other thing is on the service shop door their is a sign that says absolutely no free advice. I think that's why the owner drives the truck. Saturday, May 10, 2014. The owner of the...

http://alberg30129.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 24, 2013. Tuesday, October 8, 2013. The first thing I did was take the water pump off and check the impeller. It was fine but I replaced it anyway. Started it up and still the same problem. I got the diagram of the motor online along with the entire shop manual. Great help by the way. I changed all the filters and the oil so we were good to go. (except for the muffler! Monday, October 7, 2013. Loran was turned off several years ago. Some pix of the inside. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Alberg 30 Restoration: January 2015

http://alberg30129.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. I was at Bacons in Annapolis the other day rummaging around their back room. I found a folding companion way ladder. Just the right size. It's been around for a long time and it shows. I'll take it apart and refinish the teak. When it's done it will look like it came with the boat. Right after I got the ladder I put it in the boat to see how it looks. You can see the two folded up existing steps. The ladder is hinged. Both half's have 3 steps. This is the top section.
