I'm often asked to tell the grossest ER story I've ever seen. 2 A woman tried to kill herself by slitting her throat and then pouring Drano in the wound. The Drano chemically coagulated the bleeding, so that when you looked at her from one side, she looked normal. She was alert and talking. When you looked at her from the other side there was a big black cave into the middle of her neck. Freaky. I have never thrown up at work. Posted by EP at 2:16 PM.

An Emergency Doc's Blog. Tuesday, July 19, 2005. It's OK to feel wonder. I remember long ago when I helped take care of a woman who had just miscarried her 16-week fetus. She was sobbing, and the perfect looking little boy with translucent pink shiny skin lay dead on the stretcher, tethered by his umbilical cord to the placenta still inside his mother.
