David Lien (b. 1994) is a rising composer from Seattle, Washington. His works have been performed by the Seattle Symphony, the Bellevue Youth Symphony, and many other regional ensembles. David Lien's musical studies began at the age of 7 on piano (with Diane Williams) and cello (with Lorraine Hughs); he also began studying oboe, clarinet, and saxophone with Brian Madsen. He started composing soon after that and started studying more seriously at the age of 14 under Dr. Peter Mack.
