Eric in Uganda

Monday, April 25, 2011. OK, well I'm leaving a flight in 4 hours to take me to the Provo MTC where I will wait anxiously for a visa. Anyway, I'll miss my family. I got to spend a lot of time with them today playing basketball, tennis, and lifting some weights. Then we had a stellar FHE at 11:30 pm and everyone hit the sack. Thursday, April 14, 2011. All of these people involved in foreign aid, patting themselves on the back and getting warm fuzzies while HURTING millions of people in Africa. OK, sure...

Eric in Uganda: February 2011

http://www.ericinuganda.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 26, 2011. Friday, February 25, 2011. Went home teaching today. It took 4 hours and we only taught 2 people. People are so spread out and hard to contact. So besides bringing down the deeply ingrained boarding school culture, how do we stop AIDS? Although other African nations strive to emulate Uganda's highly successful anti-AIDS's campaign in the nineties, HIV in Uganda is currently on the rise. Why? The government thinks so. I will be handing out thousands of government funded co...

Eric in Uganda: August 2010

http://www.ericinuganda.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Monday, August 30, 2010. In one week from right now I will be in Entebbe boarding a plane for Europe and I don't want to leave. I love everything about this country and its people. I feel like I'm just starting to learn Luganda and now I have to leave that all behind. More importantly than that though, I don't want to say good bye to the people. Our ward is amazing. Friday, August 27, 2010. It's pretty simply and is spoken languidly (something I need to work on). I also love...

Eric in Uganda: April 7th

http://www.ericinuganda.blogspot.com/2011/04/april-7th.html

Thursday, April 7, 2011. Oh man did I get humbled running with the XC team yesterday. They did top ten most brutal workouts I have ever experienced. I was hobbling afterward. I love getting out to the villages! I'm still trying to get used to the fact that every one breast feeds publicly, sometimes starting mid-conversation. One lady opened her dress up to show me massive oil burns all over her chest. I'm guessing that 20 people were in eyesight. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Nene's Blog: Progress Report for Kelsey! Mar 2009

http://nenesthings.blogspot.com/2009/03/progress-report-for-kelsey-mar-2009.html

Some of my favorite things, experiences, etc. Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Progress Report for Kelsey! Kelsey's teacher just let me know her oral reading is now at 91 words per minute! Her goal is 110 so we're very pleased and excited and hopefully in the next 2 months can make it. She is very proud of herself and seeing these huge steps in progress is motivational! Keep it up, Kelsey! That is absolutely fantastic. I know its been a lot of hard work for you and Kelsey but its obviously paying off.

http://nenesthings.blogspot.com/2009/05/from-email-my-mom-in-law-sent-some.html

Some of my favorite things, experiences, etc. Wednesday, May 13, 2009. From an email my Mom-in-law sent - some great tips - especially love the one using conditioner for shaving! Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to. Pick the little 'stringy things' off of it. That's how the primates do it. Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. Put cooked egg yolks in a zip l...

Nene's Blog: Dyslexia - My perspective

http://nenesthings.blogspot.com/2008/12/dyslexia-my-perspective.html

Some of my favorite things, experiences, etc. Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Dyslexia - My perspective. Well, I thought that I would blog about my experience with Dyslexia. Maybe someone will benefit from the different things I have experienced and tried out. My daughter, Kelsey, was having a few (not bad) hassles at school - nothing great, but I knew she was struggling a bit - especially with her fluency in reading. She has always been a sharp little girl, very considerate, kind, helpful, sensitive!

Some of my favorite things, experiences, etc. Sunday, December 14, 2008. CHARACTERISTICS AND SIGNS OF POSSIBLE DYSLEXIC STUDENTS. Does not need to have all of these symptoms, most children have some of them. 8226; Student’s performance in academic tasks is often inconsistent. 8226; There are frequent letter/ number reversals, rotations, and/or transpositions in reading, writing and/or spelling. 8226; Student may have auditory discrimination problems, sometimes confusing similar speech sounds. 8226; Stude...

http://nenesthings.blogspot.com/2009/05/progress-update-apr-may-2009.html

Some of my favorite things, experiences, etc. Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Progress Update: Apr / May 2009. There has been end of level testing at school and as I mentioned, the goal for 3rd grade in our district is oral reading of 110 words. The other day, she was tested again and reached 108 words per minute! We are so excited for her. Kelsey has shown strength of character and self-control that is admirable and hardly seen even in adults. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Some music I enjoy! Do you LOVE it?

Nene's Blog: Dyslexia Programme

http://nenesthings.blogspot.com/2009/02/dyslexia-programme.html

Some of my favorite things, experiences, etc. Friday, February 27, 2009. Well, it's been a while since I updated my blog and would like to tell you what we have done. When we started, we had no idea what would work, clearly it would be trial and error. Well, the traditional treatment of dyslexia is quite bleak and I am a positive person and made a positive decision that we would try everything we could to beat this! Another thing that we did was to eliminate sugar, regular milk and cheese out her diet&#4...

Eric's Adventures in Tulsa! | Just another WordPress.com weblog

Eric's Adventures in Tulsa! Error: Twitter did not respond. Please wait a few minutes and refresh this page. June 1, 2010, 11:06 pm. My tomato plants, which were only a couple inches tall, are now almost two feet tall. They’re flowering. The seeds of sunflowers, honeydew, and cucumbers I planted are also growing strong. I should’ve built a bigger garden! It’s great. The sunny days are great–the only downside is having a too-warm house. 2 I am going to go to a Luchador wrestling match on Thursday. Maybe I...
