Fields of Hope

Monday, March 10, 2008. It has definitely been awhile since we last posted an update. It may give some indication as to what life has been like since returning from Uganda. Eric has kept very busy with his CRWRC work. He is currently in Uganda helping orientate the new person that will take his position. It sounds as if everything is going smoothly. I must admit that I have been a little envious though over this past month as he has relayed information to me from our friends in Uganda. Kucwiny community ...

http://ericnmarthasmith.blogspot.com/2007/08/departure.html

Thursday, August 16, 2007. Posted by Team Smith @ 11:19 AM. We look forward to giving you a hug in person.meanwhile, go very gently, both of you. With tears in my eyes, I feel the pain you have in this difficult decision. I too fell in love with your community in Arua. Isn't it wonderful that we can depend on a faithful and loving God who never changes? He knows what is best for you and for His kingdom. Give thanks for His tender care. I'm looking forward to your return. View my complete profile.

Fields of Hope: September 2006

http://ericnmarthasmith.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 11, 2006. In a goat multiplication scheme, certain members of the group are given starter goats. The stipulation for those receiving a starter goat is that the first offspring will be passed on to a member that does not have a goat yet. Other offspring after that may be kept, eaten, or sold. This is a popular project, as goats are an important part of life here in Uganda. I can remember a time when one of my students in the Adult Literacy program took her child to be vaccinated. She...

Mixing the ingredients without a modern mixer. Signs leading to Kucwiny community. Posted by Team Smith @ 1:33 AM. These all seem to be raised doughs. Is there a favorite flatbread also? Fields of Hope: Green Goodness

http://ericnmarthasmith.blogspot.com/2007/06/green-goodness.html

Thursday, June 07, 2007. As our endeavor to have a garden has produced little fruit, we are excited to now have a plethora of avocados. If you were all here, we would have. Another fruit of choice here is the passion fruit. While you can find these in the supermarkets in the US, they are about. Hope that you enjoy seeing a couple of the tasty reasons for living in Uganda. Posted by Team Smith @ 7:16 AM. And it increases respect for the many, many folks in this world who raise their families this way - ha...

Fields of Hope: Termites (AKA white ants) another Tasty Treat

http://ericnmarthasmith.blogspot.com/2007/06/termites-aka-white-ants-another-tasty.html

Sunday, June 17, 2007. Termites (AKA white ants) another Tasty Treat. Another tasty treat that we just enjoyed this week is termites (locally called white ants). While this was nothing new for Eric, it was very new for me. As we are in the midst of the rainy season, termites are usually hovering around lights after the rain drives them out of their homes. People are very happy when this happens because it is a free source of good protein. Posted by Team Smith @ 4:02 AM. But, why do you remove the wings?

Nothing Without Love: July 2008

http://worldofbobbie.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 31, 2008. I have to get some of these pictures in before summer is over. Our kids have had a blast at the pool this summer. To them, a day isn't complete without a dip! Two of them conquered the high dive. First, Ellie. And then Joe. (It's hard having a little sister with so much nerve! Erin has learned to swim under water ("wif" her eyes open! She also has perfected the art of looking completely un-goony while wearing orange goggles. Actually, she may still be working on that one. Daniel ...

Nothing Without Love: August 2008

http://worldofbobbie.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 31, 2008. There are only a few things in life that can bring more joy than playing chase with a one-year-old! The other day, one of our children (who shall remain nameless). To the door of our van (the. Scratches are very difficult to do justice to in a photo) with a ski pole! Why a ski pole in August, you may ask. That was a part of the adventure. I guess fire-breathing dragons can sometimes be blue with a Toyota emblem on the front! Check Out My Cans! Wednesday, August 27, 2008. An elect...

Nothing Without Love: Jungle Jack and the VonTrapps

http://worldofbobbie.blogspot.com/2009/03/jungle-jack-and-vontrapps.html

Monday, March 09, 2009. Jungle Jack and the VonTrapps. Last week my mom treated us (me, Joe, Ellie, Erin, my sister, and her husband) to an evening with Jungle Jack Hanna live on stage. He had the usual assortment of interesting and unusual animals, plus lots of information. He really is very entertaining to just listen to. What made the night for me though. The Sound of Music. Kurt's grandchildren, for those of you who are. The Sound of Music. Thanks, Mom, for a very special night! That is so neat!

Nothing Without Love: Made for Work

http://worldofbobbie.blogspot.com/2009/03/made-for-work.html

Monday, March 09, 2009. If I had been more faithful to the blog this past week, this would have been my Thankful Thursday post. Joe was just on top of the world on this day when he got to go out and work in the yard. For some reason, the fir trees in our backyard dumped a. Of little pinecones this winter. Joe raked and raked and raked! It made me think of a book that's on my list of ones I want to get soon, a devotional for boys called. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Monday, March 16, 2009. Off to Africa" is code around our house for "going to the restroom". (Ellie made that one up.) We were off to Africa in a different way last week when we visited Kalahari Indoor Waterpark Resort in Sandusky, OH. I wish I had more pictures but water parks don't really lend themselves to getting snap happy, what with all the.water. So here's a picture of our arrival. Just don't let go! Nothing Without Love: Thankful Thursday

http://worldofbobbie.blogspot.com/2009/02/thankful-thursday_26.html

Thursday, February 26, 2009. Tonight I'm simply thankful for this dear girl who is turning 7 this weekend. I've been working on her slide show and am feeling sentimental. For some reason, her birthdays are always the hardest ones for me. She's the one who seems to change every time I blink my eyes! I really love that about her, though.) Tonight she was busy working on her "book" called. The Life of Joe, Ellie, Erin, and Daniel. She looks so much like you! Oh bob, she looks exactly like YOU! I know.ea...

I tell you, if babies started out at the stage Daniel is in right now, I'd be like the Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe! He's a natural-born sinner, after all, but he brings. More joy than grief. How I love my baby boy! And he's the one that we weren't even going to have. We had always thought. Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Lord You ...

Nothing Without Love: Tidbits That Made Me Smile

http://worldofbobbie.blogspot.com/2009/03/tidbits.html

Monday, March 09, 2009. Tidbits That Made Me Smile. Here are some odds and ends from this past week that made me smile. Daniel discovered the joy of sidewalk chalk. It's a good thing I got that "lifetime supply" back in July.he's got a lot more clothes to color. Joe has been working on his juggling. He still has a long way to go, but he's getting better. Today, as he bent over to pick up his juggling blocks for about the 50th time, he said, "I know how to juggle, I just can't. View my complete profile.

The Adventures of Eric & Lydia | Snapshots of our journey together

The Adventures of Eric and Lydia. Snapshots of our journey together. August 16, 2015. Zachary turned 2 last month! We had a low-key celebration, compared with his first – which was back in Malaysia. And with all our immediate family members. We started off in the morning with a breakfast treat, and soon after proceeded to open his cards and presents throughout the day. A stack of pancakes heaped with strawberries and bananas – both of which are Zachary’s favourites. Cake from Little Madame’s Gateau.

So this is a picture right as we left for the hospital and not quite a 39 week photo. The birth story is long and crazy - but not nearly as long and crazy as the AFTER story. Lets suffice it to say that it includes the ice storm of the decade, power outages, and earthquakes. UNBELIEVABLE! Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Its affecting my sleep quit...
