Sunday, February 10, 2008. Chicago Weather Blues 2/10/08. This new chemo, Alimta, I am taking also doesn’t allow for me to take Aleve, seemingly the only pain med that has worked for me previously, and over the last few weeks, I have just ached and ached here. My doctors tell me to just ramp up the narcotic pain meds. This is something I really don’t want to do. I have a fear of becoming dependant on them, but the pain and discomfort are driving me towards this short-term solution. 2340 River Hills Lane.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008. A close call. 5/14/08. I have some bad news… In going to a routine radiation appointment, I was feeling especially weak and sweating and asked the nurses to take my temperature. That led to a check of my oxygenation level. It was alarmingly low and I was admitted to the hospital right away, with acute pneumonia. Fortunately, we are past that hurdle and I will fight through this, too. I am starting to recover and feel like I am a little stronger each day. 3 Relief from my back pain.

Monday, July 28, 2008. I've been trying to savor each moment. Our pastor reminded me last week of the passage in Luke that speaks of the visitors at the stable on the night of Jesus' birth. It says, "But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart". I will make rivers flow on barren heights,. And springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water,. And the parched ground into springs. I will put in the desert. The cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.

Monday, June 30, 2008. Who ever is sitting on the couch when the ambulance comes gets a piece of candy. Personally, I thought I was being crafty when that particular phrase came out of my mouth. I was challenged with the task of packing the car and keeping the kids out of my hair. The ambulance hadn't come yet and my kids love candy. I'm not above bribery and it worked! Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Life is very good. Finally I am having happy days, no shaking or tremors, what a relief. I am a druggie though, those meds are my saving grace. However self-sufficient my two sons are, I still worry about them, think about them, and pray for them everyday. Caleb was the star of the Christmas program. solo and acapella. he performed monday, tuesday and twice on wednesday evening. he was asked if he wanted to try out for the part, auditioned and got it, praticed for several weeks before christmas and had an absolute blast doing it. he says he wants to do it again next year.
