Dave's Musings: Maine Fiddle Camp (Tuesday)
http://daves-musings-etc.blogspot.com/2015/07/maine-fiddle-camp-tuesday.html
Musings on aikido training, hiking and nature activities, music, etc. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Maine Fiddle Camp (Tuesday). Our guest instructor for the second morning class was Pascal Gemme. Who taught us a waltz named Fee des Dents (The Tooth Fairy). It was slow and pretty - and also hard to learn. It didn't stick to the usual patterns, and was a little hard to follow. I realize that I had no idea how good a roomful of fiddles can sound. Simple tunes that I could play by myself would sound okay - b...

Dave's Musings: Maine Fiddle Camp (Monday)
http://daves-musings-etc.blogspot.com/2015/06/maine-fiddle-camp-monday.html
Musings on aikido training, hiking and nature activities, music, etc. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Maine Fiddle Camp (Monday). There are three nurses in camp, and if one isn't at the nurses station at any given time, there are cell phone numbers you can call. But I'm going to try to at least get through the morning before seeing a nurse. I'm afraid they'll insist I go see a doctor - or send me home. The Loons home tent. After the morning class, there's a 15 minute break, and then another class from 10:45-12:00...

Dave's Musings: Maine Fiddle Camp (Wednesday)
http://daves-musings-etc.blogspot.com/2015/07/maine-fiddle-camp-wednesday.html
Musings on aikido training, hiking and nature activities, music, etc. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Maine Fiddle Camp (Wednesday). I slept very well and am feeling much better. It's a beautiful sunny morning - a perfect day. The songs I've learned on are constant loop in my head. I'm not only hearing them, I'm mentally playing them.fingering and bowing. Our guest instructor for the late morning class was Lissa Schneckenburger. When they announced the specialty workshops for 3:00-6:00, two caught my ear. One ...

Dave's Musings: Fire Pit at the River
http://daves-musings-etc.blogspot.com/2015/06/fire-pit-at-river.html
Musings on aikido training, hiking and nature activities, music, etc. Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Fire Pit at the River. I've been thinking all spring about building a fire pit at the river. I'm not sure exactly where the idea came from, but it's been percolating in my head. Some Internet and YouTube research showed that it could be done fairly easily and inexpensively. So when we made plans to be down there for the holiday weekend, I decided that I would give it a try. Also available for Druid ceremonies.

Dave's Musings: Maine Fiddle Camp (Saturday)
http://daves-musings-etc.blogspot.com/2015/06/maine-fiddle-camp-saturday.html
Musings on aikido training, hiking and nature activities, music, etc. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Maine Fiddle Camp (Saturday). I'm home from June Week of Maine Fiddle Camp. It was a fantastic time and a fantastic experience. I'll try to put together a coherent trip report while it's still fresh. State #3 (NY) is in the books with a rest stop geocache on I-87. I'll get off the interstate now. I'm listening to Elliott Smith's XO, and it's funny how such an unhappy guy could make such pretty music....I've been...

http://daves-musings-etc.blogspot.com/2015/06/maine-fiddle-camp-sunday.html
Musings on aikido training, hiking and nature activities, music, etc. Saturday, June 27, 2015. Maine Fiddle Camp (Sunday). I'm up, the car is all packed, and I'm about to leave Woodford State Park. I had a good night's sleep - my first in the new tent, and the first of six nights I'll be spending in it. I didn't think so, and they all said they didn't. The last time I used it was on April's Shenandoah trip. Did Eric or John have it? Target parking lot, Augusta, ME. It's a gorgeous sunny day and I've ...

Dave's Musings: Desperate Colleges (Cont'd)
http://daves-musings-etc.blogspot.com/2015/06/desperate-colleges-contd.html
Musings on aikido training, hiking and nature activities, music, etc. Monday, June 22, 2015. I wrote a few months ago about desperate colleges. And their e-mails urging my younger daughter to apply. Now, finally, with all the college deadlines - and even high school graduation - behind us, they've just about stopped. June 13: Two Days left to apply to LVC. June 15: Urgent: Today is your last day to apply! June 16: We've extended your deadline. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
