The Life and Travels of The Ellingers. About Emily and Jon. Friday, December 12, 2014. At the same time I was also applying for 3 major certifications in my field. Before we left on our honeymoon I applied for my GIS Professional Certification (GISP) which requires 6 years of experience in the field which I then had. It took a while to fill out the application and I was glad I was accepted in January as they are building a certification test for it and I'll be grandfathered in and won't have to take it.
