tangles and mud: May 2010
http://tanglesandmud.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
May 31, 2010. It's been raining forever today! We're working somewhere between 7 and 8 hours, I can't believe there's so much water left in the sky still. I've had to pull some of my potted plants up on the porch, so they wouldn't drown! Which may be over reacting, but I'm new to all this planty business, and am trying very hard to keep everyone alive and happy. (so I can eat them later.) . hm. :). Didn't my snack turn out pretty? It looks so dainty. May 27, 2010. Fish, fish, fishy fish. May 25, 2010.

February 25, 2010. The best thing about lists is crossing things off of them, don't you think? Here's what the ironing board looked like while I tried to match the pieces to their frames. Only TWO, only almost finished! I need to get to the thrift stores this weekend and find more frames for sure! In the mean time, here's a glimpse at my end of a collaboration I've happily found myself in, and man, have I snuggled in and gotten comfy with this project! February 15, 2010. I don't know if it is because I m...

tangles and mud: March 2010
http://tanglesandmud.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
March 28, 2010. For a long time now, I've realized, I haven't really gotten all that into spring. I've always liked it, but it's fall that gets me going, knitting, spinning, crunching leaves. But now that I have a house, and its yard has a respectable amount of daffodils, I'm really enjoying spring. It makes me want to create color, dig in the dirt (I'd forgotten how awesome digging is, the smell of dirt on my hands). I'm really enjoying spring, and taking advantage of it as much as I can. And plus, who knows what I will need to make tonight, so I don't want to promise you too much. I much prefer my home-work. Home work is art, it is craft, it is little pieces of my soul and thoughts coming together to create. Whatever that creating is, I am pleased as punch to be able to make it. I think emus lay dark blue ones.). April 20, 2010. April 19, 2010.

Images of a ceramic sculpture residency. Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Death has taken on a whole new meaning out here. It has become less nostalgic, and more a part of the cycle of life. I was tempted to bury this deer, then realized the turkey vultures need to eat. Casting a dead baby deer may seem unethical to some, to others-it immortalizes it. To me, I couldn't help but create a piece of porcelain that captures its elegant form. A drawing of Roxy looking through a brightly lit doorway. Links to this post.

Images of a ceramic sculpture residency. Tuesday, March 27, 2007. A porcelain "skin" over a large gas tank that heats our studio. NCECA (The national ceramics conference) was held in Louisville, Kentucky this year. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed in the lack of ceramic sculpture. However, I latched on to Chris Gustin's work immediately. His creases and dimples made me crave more. Then she rolls in the grass.cleaning herself? Links to this post. Friday, March 23, 2007.
