Farm Girl City Girl: July 2008
http://farmgirl-citygirl.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Madeline's become quite a fan of the water this summer. She had two weeks of swimming lessons at the community center, and SHE LEARNED TO SWIM! She can legitimately swim on her own, relatively long distances (or at least what seems to me a long distance for a not-yet-five-year-old), with a variety of strokes, including underwater swimming! She even said one day after lessons, "Mommy, please don't be so proud." I guess I embarrassed her with my cell-phone videoing of her lesson.

Farm Girl City Girl: November 2008
http://farmgirl-citygirl.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 3, 2008. Sugar is evil, I believe. And it all starts with Halloween. This year I had heard various ideas from friends of how to deal with the excess of candy in the household. I decided what was going to work for my family was to let Madeline eat what she may for a day or two, and hopefully she'd figure out that she'd feel really crummy and respond to my pleas to STOP! Who is this Great Pumpkin? Why do the children get so excited about someone taking their candy? Wouldn't you know, she w...

Farm Girl City Girl: August 2008
http://farmgirl-citygirl.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 1, 2008. We've been talking a lot about weddings in our house today. Tonight while driving around with Madeline, this conversation occurred:. M: How do people get married? H: Well, when a man and a woman decide they want to be married and spend the rest of their lives together, they have a special church service where they promise to each other, to God, and to the people there that they will always love each other and live together as a family. M: (pause) .But how do they. My many names ar...

Farm Girl City Girl: A little bit four
http://farmgirl-citygirl.blogspot.com/2008/10/little-bit-four.html
Sunday, October 5, 2008. A little bit four. Madeline has been full of five-year-old wisdom lately. Here's a couple examples:. After a really long, particular hard evening, with an exceptionally confrontational bedtime routine, Madeline was in my lap, crying. As I rocked her (while trying to simmer down some of my own frustration with her), she sobbed and sputtered out:. I just feel like I'm still a little bit four.". How does God have all the buildings,. And all the roads,. And all the cars,. AwwwI love ...

Farm Girl City Girl
http://farmgirl-citygirl.blogspot.com/2008/09/we-just-finished-spending-two-weeks.html
Monday, September 15, 2008. We just finished spending two weeks with Brent's stem-cell donor and. His wife, Wilfried and Irene, from Stutgart, Germany. We found kindred spirits from across the globe! It's time to finally reply to Tiffany's tag from several weeks ago! 4 things I was doing 10 years ago. I was 20 years old and trying to figure out which music degree I should pursue. I was living in Fridley with my cousin Angela. Fun times! I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, ocular form. House cleaner f...

Farm Girl City Girl: Peer Pressure!
http://farmgirl-citygirl.blogspot.com/2008/07/peer-pressure.html
Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Alright - I did it! I caved to the pressure around me and I am now a blogger. There. I said it - I am a blogger. Honestly, I'm not so sure what took me so long - I'm usually more "with it" than this. Maybe it's because I'm getting, dare I say. older? I've told myself, "I can't blog. I scrapbook. I can't possibly do both." Then I got my new issue of Creating Keepsakes. July 24, 2008 at 8:22 AM. Don't be overwhelmed. I don't really do anything fancy on here as I just don't hav...

The Mirock Family: 2 Little Astronauts
http://mirock4.blogspot.com/2011/03/2-little-astronauts.html
Sunday, March 27, 2011. For those of you that don't know Pierce. He's really into outerspace. I mean REALLY into it. He can spout off facts about cosmonauts, satellites, space missions and meteorites like nobody's business. He wants to be an Astronaut someday. The only things he's worried about is the space food. He's pretty sure he won't like it. We had a great time exploring outer space and the kids immediately fell asleep on the car ride home. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

The Mirock Family: July 2010
http://mirock4.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 18, 2010. We didn't have much going on this Saturday, and it was way too hot to go outside. So I attempted my first ever souffle. I bought the fancy cheese, clipped the fresh herbs from the garden. A little chopping, grating and whisking and Voila! She was a thing of beauty. Can't you almost taste it? It was delicious, and received three out of four stars. One little food critic was NOT impressed! Just give me a bowl of pasta with sauce lady, and leave your fancy french cooking to yourself!
