Then you get to choose which workshop you want to attend for a more in-depth experience. Bring a team to Team Day. Faithful...

Thoughts on life at The Dale. Donate to the Dale. January 13, 2017. It’s been a year and two days since our friend Will Rohrer passed away. I miss him- his soft voice, his vulnerability, his chuckle. He had had a tough life, but he was was still such a tender guy. Thanks for everything, Will. I get to be a Community Worker at The Dale Ministries in Parkdale, Toronto, ON. This blog is meant to help keep my supporters connected with life at The Dale. View all posts by joannacatherinemoon ». You are comment...

A farewell to Grumpy | joannacatherinemoon

Thoughts on life at The Dale. Donate to the Dale. A farewell to Grumpy. June 9, 2016. 8221; I’ll miss his gravelly voice, his twinkling eyes, and his witty one-liners. We held a visitation, funeral and burial for Grumpy this Tuesday, which was an immense privilege. And it was a roller coaster of a day. At various points the events and participants could be described as somber, chaotic, sweet, hysterical, hilarious, sacred, violent, sentimental, silly and profound. See you, Grumpster. You are missed.

Thoughts on life at The Dale. Donate to the Dale. What’s in a name? September 14, 2016. At the Dale, we go by many names. Many folks have developed their own nicknames for me, including “Captain J”, “Jo-a”, “Lorelai” (apparently I look like a Lorelai? I love having many nicknames, and coming up with nicknames for others: “Marky-Mark”, “Douglas Fir” and “Marleney” to name a few. One of my favourite songs in the Dale’s songbook is called “I Will Change Your Name”. It goes like this:. I will change your nam...

This blog is meant to help keep my supporters connected with life at The Dale. Richard Wagamese and Iggy. March 17, 2017. I was listening to the morning news a couple of days ago when I learned that Richard Wagamese, one of my favourite Canadian authors, had passed away at age 61. While many of the other news stories were saddening, this piece of news broke my heart. There was...

Thoughts on life at The Dale. Donate to the Dale. The gift of tangibility. August 25, 2016. This past month has been a full one! I’ve been alternating between adventures at The Dale, and adventures away from The Dale: a road trip to the east coast, then back to The Dale, then a canoe trip, then back to The Dale, then a few days up north, then back to The Dale. There have been lots of poignant moments in the last few weeks, but I want to share one with you in particular:. What a precious thing! Erinn was ...

Thoughts on life at The Dale. Donate to the Dale. July 20, 2016. This Saturday will be the one year anniversary of our friend Cowboy’s passing. In some ways it’s still hard to believe he’s gone, and in other ways it feels like a long time since last July 23rd. In the midst of the sadness of this year there have also been many, many joyful moments. We’ve celebrated a baptism, seen people housed, and shared many meals, hugs, and good conversations. I get to be a Community Worker at The Dale Ministries in P...

Thoughts on life at The Dale. Donate to the Dale. Some thoughts on Advent hope. December 20, 2016. As I watched the sun peek over the rooftops this morning, I thought about a conversation I had with a very close friend last night. We had been sharing with each other about the pain we are experiencing within ourselves and on behalf of those we love, and wondering why certain struggles seem to last SO long. O come, Thou Dayspring, from on high,. And cheer us by Thy drawing nigh;. One response ». Fill in yo...

Thoughts on life at The Dale. Donate to the Dale. O come, o come. December 16, 2016. It’s been quite a while since I last blogged and, as per usual, lots of beautiful things and lots of hard things have happened. 8230;Did you see my cabin? 8230; Did you see Mars? 8221; approximately every 5 minutes 🙂 It was a trip to remember, for all of of us. Another lovely thing happened a couple of weeks ago, when we witnessed what might be considered a minor miracle! 8221;… and so he did! These are just a couple of...
