Welcome to the web home of the Sustainable Energy Solutions Foundation. How does this all affect me? The use of fossil fuels affects everybody, whether you drive a Hummer to work, or live in a straw hut on a small island in the middle of the ocean. Global warming, and potentially oil spills, nuclear reactor disastors, etc. are a threat to the entire planet. What are your sources? Who are you funded by? What is your real agenda? Why would the U.S. Government lie? What can I do to help? It all starts with ...

The Living Room in Rogers Park: Where the jobs are.......
http://thelivingroom.blogspot.com/2011/10/where-jobs-are.html
The Living Room in Rogers Park. A place to congregate, visit and discuss the issues impacting our community. Friday, October 21, 2011. Where the jobs are. The Huffington Post has an article discussing the impact of Alabama's immigration law on agriculture. A friend sent it to me as an example of American indolence. I think he overstates that case, although it's evident that contemporary Americans may not be up to the physical rigors of field work. In this instance we are told several things -. However, t...

The Living Room in Rogers Park. A place to congregate, visit and discuss the issues impacting our community. Sunday, October 16, 2011. When Is A Person a Person? Mississippi is attempting to define human person-hood as legally starting at the moment of fertilization of the human ovum. This being pursued via a ballot initiative. That particular action isn't going anywhere but what if? Will she be forced to carry the pregnancy to whatever end, without any option to save her own life? More to the point, doe...

The Living Room in Rogers Park: Defining a "person"
http://thelivingroom.blogspot.com/2011/10/defining-person.html
The Living Room in Rogers Park. A place to congregate, visit and discuss the issues impacting our community. Monday, October 17, 2011. For many people the answer is obvious - if you are a human, you are a person. Especially when you are physically present in this reality. Are all humans persons? Conventional wisdom assumes the answer is 'yes'. Is being a human prerequisite to being a person? For a long time the ability to make tools was a standard. Homo habilis. Defining what it is that constitutes perso...

Gate 38: Avoiding Vinyl

Posted by Alex Bransky at 1:19 PM. All vegans and some animal-rights activists and environmentalists try to avoid purchasing products made with leather. Cows do a lot of burping. Emitting tons of methane into the atmosphere, and methane accounts for 18% of greenhouse gases, second only to CO2, so the mass breeding cows, particularly to be slaughtered, is clearly bad for the environment, without me even getting into the environmental problems with trying to feed so many cows. 365 Days of Songs.

Gate 38: Auto Bailout - Part 1
http://gate38.blogspot.com/2008/12/auto-bailout-part-1.html
Auto Bailout - Part 1. Posted by Alex Bransky at 9:35 AM. Normally I would be 100% percent against any sort of bailout of auto companies. I've thought for years that it made no sense that the U.S. government subsidized corporations who made unsafe, inferior, and environmentally harmful products. But now's our chance to change all that. This time I think we should give them money (assuming they really need it, more on that later) but with the following conditions:. At December 14, 2008 at 6:13 PM.

The Living Room in Rogers Park: The Fossil Fuel Messiahs - Or Not
http://thelivingroom.blogspot.com/2011/11/fossil-fuel-messiahs-or-not.html
The Living Room in Rogers Park. A place to congregate, visit and discuss the issues impacting our community. Friday, November 04, 2011. The Fossil Fuel Messiahs - Or Not. The 'drill baby drill' crowd operates out of the belief that unrestrained drilling for oil, shale gas, or natural gas, will somehow keep the party going indefinitely. Gail Tverburg just put up a post. Once again, Rockman. Do we really think we have enough money, public or private, to drill without restraint? Until the 'drill baby drill'...
