Ordered by and delivered in August 1939 to a Mr. J Brock of Plymouth who owned and operated Milbank Rinkeries (ice rinks) in Plymouth. Upon the outbreak of hostilities with Germany in September 1939 petrol became rationed (known as pool petrol and not of particularly good quality), Mr. Brock therefore did not use the Rolls very much periodically leaving the car in a garage at the ice rink. Farmington, Maine, (Mortons were established in 1948 but were taken over in the 1980's by a Chevrolet main agent although the original building still stands). This Pierce was commissioned by the Royal Netherlands Government for official use of the governor general of the Dutch East Indies and is the only one of her specification. Documented by the Pierce-Arrow Museum: Whilst in the East Indies, in 1936 this car was hidden behind a false wall (in anticipation of a Japanese invasion) and remained undiscovered until 1966.
