That doesn't mean investors can't prepare portfolios for higher rates:. Http:/ www.etfportfolios.net/bonanza/2014-11-13.pdf. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Searching for a financial adviser? Here's what to ask. A month ago the wealth management editor at The Wall Street Journal. Ran an article on why, after only nine months, he fired his financial adviser. He thought he knew how to evaluate financial advisers; he didn't. The problem he had with his new adviser was that they had different investment philosophies. When evaluating an adviser you should understand his investment philosophy and strategy. How often does he trade?

Vomund Investment Management: April 2014
http://etfportfolios.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Technology - the new versus the old. Watching CNBC, there is a lot of talk of equity rotation from "new technology" to "old technology." This rotation was on full display last week after earnings reports from Microsoft and Apple. Microsoft announced that its cloud-based "Office 365" revenues doubled from last year. Better yet, Apple announced it will boost its quarterly dividend by eight percent and increase its share-buyback program. Monday, April 21, 2014. Is this showing an ...

Vomund Investment Management: March 2015
http://etfportfolios.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 5, 2015. Is your adviser working in your best interest, or not? Last week President Obama directed the Department of Labor to move ahead with a rule that would hold brokers/financial advisers/wealth managers to a higher "fiduciary standard." Given the many conflicts of interest in this industry, we believe this is long overdue:. Http:/ www.etfportfolios.net/bonanza/2015-03-05.pdf. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Vomund Investment Management: January 2014
http://etfportfolios.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 21, 2014. One can never really put a fine point on the economic and market outlook, though that doesn't stop scores of strategists and many in the financial media from giving it a go, their dismal record (forecasting a gain of only 8.2 percent last year) notwithstanding. For that matter, that never stopped me. So. Stock market history shows that after surges similar to the one in 2013 the subsequent year is usually a good one. I expect that to be the case in 2014. Information is found at.

Vomund Investment Management: September 2013
http://etfportfolios.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 19, 2013. Much has been written about how money will move into stocks as long-term rates rise and bond prices and funds sink. And indeed since rates began to rise in May bonds have fallen and stocks have surged to record highs. But the facts don't confirm the "great rotation" from bonds to stocks. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Consult your financial advisor before purchasing any security. Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Fixed-Income Funds for Long Term Investors.

Vomund Investment Management: August 2014
http://etfportfolios.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 11, 2014. Here's What to Watch. The market quickly fell four percent from its high. The financial media tell us many negatives - geopolitical concerns, the threat of rising interest rates, etc. - are adversely affecting the stock market. Taken individually, the negatives are relatively insignificant. As a group, however, they are enough to unsettle traders. I said traders, not investors. That was in 2009! An unattractive bond market is good news for stocks. Four years from now. Bottom line...

Vomund Investment Management: February 2014
http://etfportfolios.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 11, 2014. The market is off to a shaky start to 2014. Why the small setback? Simple. Economic data here and abroad are calling into question the global growth story. China's growth is slowing, and some emerging markets are in turmoil. Recent economic data here show weakness as well, especially in manufacturing and car sales. Frigid weather on the east coast had something to do with that. Who wants to go for a test drive when it's 5 below or look at houses to buy? I expect that now too.
