Ethan's Blog: Two years
http://ethanremmel.blogspot.com/2013/06/two-years.html
Wednesday, June 19, 2013. June is not the best month for me. Usually there are finals to grade, things to finish up, and of course the "death-iversary" (as fellow widows have coined it). This year, Miles and I went to Colorado for the first week and I was pretty sick with a sinus cold at elevation. Not fun (but the conference and my panel session were GREAT! Miles went to the YMCA of the Rockies Day Camp; he hiked in Rocky Mountain National Park and rode a pony. July 2, 2013 at 9:30 AM. Diagnosed with St...

Ethan's Blog: June 2014
http://ethanremmel.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 13, 2014. I'm accompanying Miles on a "hike" and picnic at his school, and my heart fills with love, happiness, and wonder at what could be? When I see our adventurous little guys. (Only 3 more days until Miles is a second grader! Folks on the radio tell me that it's Friday the 13th and. A Full Moon and the DJs are inviting people to call in with their superstitions. Neither Ethan nor I were particularly superstitious, but E did often say "knock on wood" which I found amusing. PS: I update t...

Miles A. Remmel: Thanksgiving
http://milesremmel.blogspot.com/2014/11/thanksgiving.html
Miles A. Remmel. Life with a third-grader is always an adventure! Sunday, November 30, 2014. It has been years since I've spent Thanksgiving with my actual family. Years of graduate school and living far away from my parents created a tradition where I spent the day with friends. So, for the first time in many years, four kids were home for the weekend. Gene and his family, Gary, Greg, and Miles and I shared a lovely meal with my parents on Thursday. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Through a widow's eyes. We don’t see things as they are. We see things as we are. Anais Nin. Posted by: carolyn / through a widow's eyes. June 15, 2015. A private widowed group has been discussing this: “Aside from the grief that unites us – tell us one thing about you that we likely don’t know that you are proud of. “. I’ve been cradling this idea for days, thinking about This Life as opposed to my Before Life, about Now vs Then and indeed, about things of which I am. Sit around here and be sad? She wen...

Ethan Reilly | Author musings, anecdotes and rants.
Author musings, anecdotes and rants. August 15, 2015. So it’s been a while. Just thought I’d drop by and let you all know how I’m doing. Overall, very well. It’s hard to complain when the winter weather here in Brisbane is better than the summer in some of the other places I’ve lived over the years. I have been struggling with a sports injury though:. I bought myself a typewriter: an Olivetti Lettera 32 from the early 1970s. That’s pretty cool. Otherwise, I’m just waiting for inspiration to strike. Ultra...

Ethan's Blog
Wednesday, June 29, 2016. I won't lie to you. This month was rough. Something about the five-year. Mark that made it seem more momentous than earlier years (even the first year). I read on a blog titled "Refuge in Grief" that described that passage as "a blink an eternity" which is apt. Kathy and Seth were just visiting for two weeks, and that tempered the grief. It was great to spend time with them, and the boys bonded over cars and water sports. Miles on the ferry to Lopez Island (field trip with my co...
