Last September, Seattle-based artist Ethan Stern. Received the People’s Choice Award at the annual Museum of Glass Red Hot Auction and Gala. Stern won for his piece. And was offered a 2015 Visiting Artist Residency as part of his prize. Stern studied ceramic art at both TAFE College of Ceramics. While also continuing his 2014 series.

Thursday, June 14, 2012. Here are some long overdue updates from my past year of making. In August 2011 I travelled to Canberra to complete a 6 week residency at the Canberra Glassworks. I did heaps of tests, concentrating on murrine, cold assembly (glueing), and coldworking in general. I also couldn't help myself from building some jazzy trios, as I often do. Monday, January 21, 2013. Topping up on Canadia. I went to Canada over the holidays. It was revitalising. My parents place is spotted with glassworks ranging from my very first blobs to these more recent sculptural blobs which were shipped back for an exhibition a couple years ago. In Adelaide, backyard BBQ's are common but its a pain to keep any amount of ice from melting on a hot summer night. Conversley, in Calgary ice is easy to achieve yet BBQ'z in -20,.not so much. These are a set of Tangent Bottles that were Machine Made By Hand for the Generate exhibition in Dec. 2010. alabaster with clear, grey with black, clear with white. Thursday, March 17, 2011. Today I set up the show, finally! Nothing broke and the work is all shined up and locked under glass cases. Looks swish, I reckon. There are only six collections which I initially thought was too few but the work is well spaced out and I figure that is better than a cramped cluster fuck. y' know? This piece is titled 'Tangy'-Simply driven by its ultra offensive citrus colour, lemon yellow, It's the punchiest set of the bunch. I will post some photos from the opening next week.
