Free Europe Travel Blog: Get tips and learning from my backpacking in Europe. Since I allocated some extra time for my travel to Budapest and actually completed a 4-day itinerary in 3 days, I went to a nearby historical town called Eger. Eger is also one of the famous wine centers in Europe. So many shops sell wines at really great prices. If you enjoy wines, this is the place to go and get some great wines at bargain. After the church visit, I head to the the István Dobó Square, which is t...When i was ...

Free Europe Travel Blog: Get tips and learning from my backpacking in Europe. Budapest Travel Guide: I arrived at Budapest through an overnight train from Krakow. The ticket was bought directly at train station. Since I knew staffs at ticket booth might not speak English at all, I wrote the train information on a piece of paper in advance, which made things so much easier. It was a great experience and I think whoever goes to Budapest should take the Thermal Bath as the #1 thing to do. The use of the...

Free Europe Travel Blog: Get tips and learning from my backpacking in Europe. I arrived at Krakow from Prague by train. During the the second part of the train journey, I happened to be on the old Polish train, which didn’t have air-conditioning. The train was crowded and pretty slow. I was the only foreigner on my wagon and everyone else around me either spoke Polish or German. However, it was an interesting experience and I finally made it. Shortly after that, I headed directly to the famous Wawel Cast...

Free Europe Travel Blog: Get tips and learning from my backpacking in Europe. After a long flight from Toronto with transfer at Amsterdam, I arrived at Prague. Getting to historical city center from airport was pretty easy. Like locals, I took a combined ride of bus and metro. Buses and metro subways share the same ticket. I bought the transit ticket directly at the airport arrival terminal. Because of that, I also came across a nice vantage point which many locals go to. Next morning, I woke up very ear...

Free Europe Travel Blog: Get tips and learning from my backpacking in Europe. I took a mini-bus from the long distance bus station next to Krakow railway station to the famous Auschwitz concentration camp. I bought the round-trip mini-bus ticket directly at the bus station. If you did watch the movie “Schindler’s List” before, you perhaps will recognize some of the pics below, as they appeared exactly the same as how they looked like in the movie.

Post and Shanghai Travel Advice. I recently spent one month in Shanghai on a holiday and thought about putting up a piece of quick Shanghai Travel Advice to fellow travellers. The life in Shanghai is simply amazing. Where to Go in Shanghai. First, a night walk on the Shanghai Bund is a must, especially when the lights are on during the important holidays. While you will be surrounded by tons of tourists, it will still be a great experience. If you don’t read Chinese, you can download the mobile app...

Today, I read about a new Google Search Feature, which is great for travel planning. If you do have time, I highly recommend you spend a few minutes of your time and get used to the concept of knowledge graph behind Google Search. The details can be viewed at http:/ www.google.com/insidesearch/features/. Google Search now can help you instantly find popular places in a particular city. For instance, if you type “things to do in Paris” directly in the Search box, here is what you get.

Since I live in Toronto, I thought I should produce a nice post on what a tourist can do in Toronto area. Also, I used my DSLR to grab some HD photos for this guide. For most travelers, getting a metro day pass is the best deal, which works on all subway, tram and buses. During the weekend, one metro day pass is good for 2 adults and 3 kids, which makes a great bargain for saving transportation cost. Next to Royal Ontario Museum, if you walk a few minutes toward the west, you will see the football field ...

Once I was at the passport control at Macau side, I simply turned over my passport with US visa page on top. Without a single word, I was given 7 day stay in Macau. If you do not prepare spend days and nights in the casino, one day is all you need to do your sightseeing. Macau is very traveler friendly with English signs well placed to lead you to various attractions. I would highly recommend that you go to Macau Government Tourism Site at http:/ www.macautourism.gov.mo/,. Once thing you won’t miss...

Favela, Rio de Janeiro. I booked a tour with Favela Tour at http:/ www.favelatour.com.br, recommended by TripAdvisor and other travel sites. The tour was excellent. It was a very educational tour led a guide who was very passionate about letting people know the background, culture and lives inide a favela. We went to was called Rocinha, which is. Then we went to a local terrace, where I got pictures of a breathtaking view over Rio. The guide told me that in Rio the poor people living in favela got th...

Things to do in Washington DC. The Dupont Circle Metro Station is conveniently situated within walking distance from many hotels in Dupont Circle, from where I managed to get to everywhere by Metro. DC’s Metro was a bit confusing to me at the beginning. Like everyone else, I needed to use the ticket machine to get the ticket. Some friendly locals helped me out. Once I got a hang on that, the metro worked like a breeze. The following stairs of Georgetown was in 1973 movie “Exorcist”. In the early evening,...

How to pack for your adventurous travel? As a backpacker, I never have a check-in luggage. To maintain a low profile in certain regions, I avoid big name brands, such as The North Face, which identify me as a tourist. Up to 70% off LivingSocial Escapes packages! Sport jacket is my favorite, as it is light and easy to dry, which serves as a good outfitter and rain jacket. A sweatshirt is necessary, which is light but also can keep you warm, when you need. Money Bag - Always carry one and wear it. Plastic ...
