Mel in Melbourne: Brunswick: The Indie Kid's Paradise Down Under
http://mel-in-melbourne.blogspot.com/2009/08/brunswick-indie-kids-paradise-down.html
15 August, 2009. Brunswick: The Indie Kid's Paradise Down Under. It's filled with little cafés and restaurants of all ethnicities, boutiques, hardware and grocery stores, little everything shops (often Asian-themed), and op shops: the coolest places around. Op. It's pretty rad. I'm proud of myself :) So that, and I also bought a bunch of cool-ass jewelry for belly dancing- which I officially start on 10 September, yay! And some potpourri for my room, all just AUS$25. Sweet deal! Love, Mel Helen.

Mel in Melbourne: Uni-Corns
http://mel-in-melbourne.blogspot.com/2009/09/uni-corns.html
08 September, 2009. The only thing more difficult than writing a really long essay (I'm talking 2,000 words or more) is writing a really short essay. My sociology professor assigned us an essay that involves answering two questions. 1 How has Butler begun to show that 'sex' materialises as normative? 2 According to Holmes's article, what are some of the ways that women's and men's bodies become 'gendered'? First of all, one-hundred-and-thirty-three words? These are heavy questions, you guys!

Mel in Melbourne: The Latest
http://mel-in-melbourne.blogspot.com/2009/07/latest.html
30 July, 2009. I have a cold. An Australian cold. But I noticed that almost everyone else at Ormond has the same cold, in varying degrees of sick-ness. For example, my friend Sara is sick to an almost flu-like degree, whereas I escaped with a post-nasal drip and what the chemist in Union House calls a 'chesty cough.' *Hack hack* My course of action is Robitussen, maaaaybe. Sudafed PE, and lots and lots of tea. But I'll get there! How great is Australia! How blessed are the meek! Love, Mel Helen.

Mel in Melbourne: Sorry. I'm a bad person.
http://mel-in-melbourne.blogspot.com/2009/08/sorry-im-bad-person.html
29 August, 2009. Sorry I'm a bad person. It's been a long time (sorry) since I last updated (my bad), so I'll recap the last two weeks or so in a few sentences:. This past week was Prosh week: an annual Melbourne Uni tradition of mayhem and usually-naked pranks. I didn't see much of it, actually. There was one prank pulled in my lecture where, I heard, someone stood up in the middle of it and shouted, "Did some. Body say naked crowdsurfing? I've planned my mid-semester break trip! Love, Mel Helen. Hannah...

03 August, 2009. Zoom Focus. Click! I promised photos, and, being me, I am true to my word! Yesterday I went with my friend Cara to an intercollegiate footy game between Ormond and St. Hilda's, which we. regrettably lost. Ho. Wever, I still. Managed to snag a few decent snapshots of our Ormond heroes in action! He does, in the end, catch the footy. Closing in for a goal or a behind. And this is my favourite shot. Another update: yes, I was. Love, Mel Helen. Gahhh i cant believe you had swine flu!

18 September, 2009. Dance in Melbourne is pretty awesome. Last week I started my tribal 1 belly dance class in North Fitzroy (cool area, by the way; lots of Middle-Eastern restaurants and a few interesting-looking vintage stores) and it kicks ass. But then yesterday, after belly dance, I raced across the suburbs to meet Sara and Cara in East Brunswick. To take a (Gemma, you'll like this one! Drop-in Burlesque class at Bottoms Up Burlesque. Mel in Melbourne: St. Kilda Graffiti
http://mel-in-melbourne.blogspot.com/2009/08/st-kilda-graffiti.html
31 August, 2009. Here's a panoramic photo image that I took (in parts) and then generated to give y'all the whole feel of the incredible street art that I saw as soon as I stepped off the number 67 tram down St. Kilda Road, the day I went to the Jewish Museum. Sorry if it's hard to see, but it's kind of a large file, so you may want to click on the image for the full effect. Yeah. Enjoy! Love, Mel Helen. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
