Monday, June 25, 2012. MiniCycle V2 and DethWhacker. A few weeks ago, MiniCycle V1 was completed and Tom, Shane. Right-side-up videography by Charles Guan. To fix the problem of the slightly lower than desired top speed, I built another battery pack that would a) go faster and b) fit better into the frame. The pack is 33V nominal (10S) and 4.4Ah. Please ignore scorch marks on negative terminal. Couldn't find heat shrink big enough. Kapton tape and foam to the rescue! Posted by Adrian Tanner.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Electric Surfboard (extreme sports in slow motion). After my last post,. The surfboard got a brief water test in the Charles and there was evidence of a very slow leak in the tail. To remedy this, the board got two more hot coats to (hopefully) seal things off. (Spoiler: it worked). The aluminum bits are where the screws contact the fin and push inward/up to hold it in place. Attempt at foam with kitchen sponges. This did not work. Next was the motor mount, which involved very ...

Sunday, November 30, 2014. Electric Longboard - GoBoard. From the side - modeled with a flat board. The board was designed around a motor. And batteries I already had. I don't totally remember but a top speed target of 20 seemed pretty reasonable and realistically I'll go about 15 anyway. Safety first? Closeup of pulleys/tensioner. 7.5" belts is what SW came up with. 5:1 ratio. Obligatory 'the top comes off' picture. Battery assembly will be 3D printed. Hooray for efficient-yet-dangerous transportation.

Thursday, February 27, 2014. Phone Case Update: V4. Back by popular demand: update on the iPhone case! Although not much has happened since the last iteration. The fourth (and current) version does exist and is kind of cool, I think. V4 is made for the iPhone 5/5s, and features a thicker border, tighter screw holes, and glows in the dark! As for the other version, there's still a few remaining V3s in the wild, which will likely be replaced soon just for the sake of giving my friends cool stuff.

Thursday, July 3, 2014. For the first few weeks of the summer, David. And I were holed up in the IDC with dreams of. the Charles. Not terribly appetizing to some, but it's the closest body of water to both of our dorms. It's totally been cleared as swimmable, anyway. We'll be fine. We began by constructing a pair of surfboards. The board is amazingly rigid. A friend of mine. Is working on an algorithm to create the hexagonal pattern for lasercutting based on a solid 3D model. Actually two layers of glass).

Saturday, May 18, 2013. It's Made of Wood. Yup. Earlier in 2013, I started designing a version of Chibikart. Athought I knew I wanted my vehicle to be substantially larger and more comfortable to ride, the final goals for the project were not set in stone at the time and continue to evade me. I'm going to keep this post short because the project is not complete and this is basically just a photo dump with some words in between. Just like all of my other posts. Thanks to the help of Evan Lane. Special tha...

Saturday, October 12, 2013. This summer I was fortunate enough to be selected to participate in the Lutchen Distinguished Fellowship Program. Essentially a more rigorous UROP, it allowed me to continue my MEMS resonator research with Professor McDaniel through the summer. My first semester of research involved learning MEMS CAD software, called L-Edit. All 20 of my devices fit on one of those little squares, which are 2.5mm x 2.5mm. A few SEM images for your enjoyment:. Wide angle shot of whole die.

Sunday, December 21, 2014. Attempt at The Aesthetically Pleasing Quadrotor. I've always loved flying things despite my evident affinity for ground vehicles (they're easier to put a person on). This summer I was given a few small motors so I bit the bullet and bought a complete set of parts. My hesitation up to this point was that homebuilt quads out there are, for the most part, kinda ugly. Yes, hobbyking sells some cool frames. Top is held on by a few screws. Updates soon to come! Monday, March 22, 2010. Why Bottled Water is Bad Branding. From The Story of Stuff. Creator Annie Leonard demonstrates the core principle of Deepening Relationships. If the branding isn't true, the truth comes out with justified anger, and the only factor is time. So what is the opposite of bad branding? Thursday, January 28, 2010. I love adjectives. They are the flavors behind the spice, the character of a person, the experiences we all have. Branders love adjectives, too. For the most part,...Let's say...
