The software will also be selecting random chunks of text and displaying them on screens inside the gallery space encouraging discussion, which then could influence the next piece of writing to be input back into the novel. I can't wait though for the exhibition's next part to open in mid December, when we will be treated to two major installations by the Vasulka's in the upper galleries.

The Society of the Spectacle (A Digital Remix. SOS] is a furious collage of black and white images (and sudden flarings of colour) and theory-saturated subtitles that you can only grasp at as they roll by, occasionally recognise, and go with the odd beauty of their flow. It's appropriately playful (everything is fucked but fun), pulsing, pop-ish and engrossing-the hypertext crowd stoked on Godard [.] [T]he rapid editing and churning information flow reflects the stru. The virtual stripped bare by. Later ...

Evolving Sonic Environment III. Psychology Department, Goldsmiths College, London. Evolving Sonic Environment III is an acoustically-coupled analog neural network, consisting of a society of devices whose behaviour collectively changes in response to the pitch ascendancy or descendency that each one detects. In contrast to earlier versions of the project (which operated at much higher frequencies), humans will be able to participate more directly in the adaptation process by making sounds of their own.
