Saurondor: D&D needs action figures
http://saurondor.blogspot.com/2015/02/d-needs-action-figures.html
Home of the Saints and Sinners RPG and other crazy game ideas. Sunday, February 15, 2015. D&D needs action figures. I'm a Star Wars fan, but not a hardcore one by a long shot. I have the six movies and that's about it. I've never read a book and only seen a few animated series. Still, I don't hesitate to spend good money on good quality Star Wars figures. Why not do the same with D&D monsters and character classes? Back in the TSR days D&D had some action figures (HT to Robert Brumbelow. On a side note t...

Home of the Saints and Sinners RPG and other crazy game ideas. Friday, October 17, 2014. I can tell you upfront it isn't because we think so small we use small words ;). The Nahuatl language has the suffix "-tsintli" or "-tzintli" that is used on words when the speaker is showing reverence. Some sources indicate the suffix "-tzin" and "-tli", with -tli added to substantives and -tzin alone for adjectives, pronouns, forenames, etc. . Water "atl" becomes atsintli. Child or kid "pili" becomes piltsintli.

Saurondor: The bad GM roll, having a TPK day
http://saurondor.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-bad-gm-roll-having-tpk-day.html
Home of the Saints and Sinners RPG and other crazy game ideas. Wednesday, September 04, 2013. The bad GM roll, having a TPK day. The GM rolls and the whole party dies. Bummer, that sucks! My recent post on the lethality in a modern combat RPG stirred some comments and concerns regarding players or GMs rolling poorly and causing player death or even a TPK in a highly lethal game. Is this so? Does high lethality translate directly to high player death? What does this mean in layman's terms? In a real firef...

Saurondor: Red Blue dice mechanics
http://saurondor.blogspot.com/2015/01/red-blue-dice-mechanics.html
Home of the Saints and Sinners RPG and other crazy game ideas. Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Red Blue dice mechanics. Now, to measure skill and difficulty blue dice are added or removed. The easier the task or the more unskilled the character the more blue dice the roll has. This makes for a very nice treat for players, the more skilled your character is, the less dice you have to roll and add. How many dice mechanics do you know that give you that benefit? How does the Red and Blue mechanics work? 1 - They...

Saurondor: Bows, a comparison between Era and D&D
http://saurondor.blogspot.com/2013/01/bows-comparison-between-era-and-d.html
Home of the Saints and Sinners RPG and other crazy game ideas. Sunday, January 20, 2013. Bows, a comparison between Era and D&D. As a game designer I want you to take full advantage of a bow's design to leverage the attributes and training of your character. You've trained your character, improved his attributes, now you want to see all this manifest itself in the adventure. Sounds fun? So I'll start with a few definitions:. As the shape curves away from the archer; this design gives higher draw-weight i...

Fear and Loathing in Penom. My Tekumel →. August 28, 2012. It has come to pass that I will be running a few sessions of Empire of the Petal Throne for a group of friends. Over the past year or two I’ve had the opportunity to participate in a game of Tekumel with a talented bunch of players, but had not anticipated running a game for this highly experienced and creative bunch. Let the reader understand that Msr. Le Gris Gris is a modest referee with much to be modest about. My Tekumel →. Notify me of new ...

Tabletop RPGs and more. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. What is Blade & Crown? August 20, 2016. Joss Whedon has had a lot of influence on geeky storytelling, I think. Not just with his particular cleverness with dialogue, or in his original (though in their own way trope-laden) characterizations. The way I’m thinking of is in how he finds interesting, genuinely surprising, but yet somehow logical, directions for stories to go. Of dialogue to illustrate it instead:. For almost any situ...
