Farming in Seminole Heights, FL, hoping if Code Enforcement comes we can bribe them with cookies. We sell some of our handmade goods at the occasional market (this has been rare with the advent of working our tushies off all summer) and in our Etsy Store. For sale we have (or will have in the very near future) wool dryer balls, mason jar coozies (customizable with your name or not), knit. Wears, seeds from our garden, seed bombs, and more. Farming in Seminole Heights, FL, hoping if Code Enforcement comes we can bribe them with cookies. On Bees: Our First Ever Hive Split [Attempt]. Posted on March 9, 2015. After this loveliness, we came home and put what little energy we had left from time in the sun and just generally having that lazy Sunday feeling into splitting our bee hive. Icing the swollen eye, 2014. The difference between a stung and non-stung eyeball. Until mom took me to a Dr. and he said to get meat tenderizer to take the swe...

Farming in Seminole Heights, FL, hoping if Code Enforcement comes we can bribe them with cookies. Posted on January 28, 2015. All the steps to make big changes are so small and slow. Progress isn’t happening fast enough for me. Sleep when you die. Messy dishes used to be a sign of a good time and friends and I don’t think I used to hate doing them. I’ve almost been married 5 years! My college dorm philosophy: I don’t really like mess, but I do really like how it got here. Larr; My Death Cafe. Gnarly Farm...

Farming in Seminole Heights, FL, hoping if Code Enforcement comes we can bribe them with cookies. Posted on December 28, 2014. I’m still alive. Maybe barely. But I am. I have been spending half of my nights at work (as in spending the night doing overnight respite work) and only half at home, except I’m still working the regular (and by regular I mean only sometimes regular) 40 hour work week. I’ve been working a lot. A lot a lot. Larr; Urban Foraged Dye Stuffs. Dorm Room Philosophies →. You are commenti...

Improved Ecosystems: May 2014
http://improvedecosystems.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 31, 2014. I didn't mow much out in the field this year and the lack of cover, in combination with their color, made the butterflies stick out like a sore thumb. I attempted to get two in the same picture, but they did not want to cooperate. I was only able to get good pictures of the docile ones. This is one of the better pictures I was able to get. Just look at how complex that color scheme is. It would truly be a shame if we, as a society, allowed this species to go extinct. U...Quite a b...

Improved Ecosystems: July 2014
http://improvedecosystems.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2014. The Pond in Summer and Trail Camera Pictures. Wildlife activity around the ponds has picked up a little and I was able to get a number of good pictures when I went back to take a look. The trail camera also picked up a few hundred pictures in the last two weeks. Further from the water's edge the plants seem to do a little better since they are not submerged during the early months of the year. This was open soil for the most part two years ago, but it has since filled in and ...

Wednesday, December 24, 2014. North Edge Prairie Final First Year Update. ProVide Clover after mowing. North edge prairie after mowing. West Edge Prairie Final First Year Update. Since there is now snow on the ground, not much will be happening that is really worth noting about the planted areas for the next few months. If I decided to remove some brush I will try to post some pictures of the areas before and after. Looking south from the middle of the planting. Wednesday, December 10, 2014. I have been ...
