Once every two weeks I'll catch a car to Solwezi which has, among other things, INTERNET. Monday, August 24, 2009. Although it has been little more than a week since I last posted, there has been quite a bit of excitement in Meheba. There are two FORGE volunteers who have been here a week and will stay with us through the first week in September. We spent the majority of their first week here orienting them to the realities of camp life, introducing them to FORGE staff and of course, fixing bicycles.

The past two weeks have been spent in an attempt to see the bigger picture here in Meheba. It is easy here to get caught up in the run around of day-to-day life. As I have outlined in the past, it takes up a surprising amount of energy to work on the small problems that are presented to me here, be they lack of supplies, bicycle repairs, attendance issues, loanees refusing to pay etc.
