這是一張包含有線的、無線的；天上的、地下的；類比的、數位的；過去的、未來的.一切與訊息交換有關的科技知識地圖. 第一層是PP剛開始啟用時，要先在FP端註冊(subscribtion)，註冊過程會在PP與FP產生一個認證鑰匙(Authnetication Key)，儲存在兩端。 1 這個鑰匙不會透過空中界面傳遞，所以冒用者無從偷取。 2 註冊是使用者隨機的行為，而且僅在買回家安裝後，第一次啟用時需要，所以被監看的機率很低。 第二層是認證程序，這個程序每次呼叫或服務開始前，都要進行一次，以確保使用資源的資格，使用的原理是例如FP端產生一個隨機亂數，將此亂透過空中界面送給PP，PP以此亂數與認證鑰匙計算出一個數值，將此數值透過空中界面送給FP，FP收到以後，比較自己用相同方式計算的結果，如果兩者相同，表示PP持有相同的一把認證鑰匙，於是通過認證。 在空中傳遞的只有隨機亂數(challenge)與計算結果(response)，監看此兩個數字，要想解算出Authentication Key的工程很浩大。(數學上可能，但需要龐大計算資源). 這是一張包含有線的、無線的；天上的、地下的；類比的、數位的；過去的、未來的.一切與訊息交換有關的科技知識地圖. 不知何故，對於GPRS的信令(即通信協定)，筆者目前所能找到的教學資料，無論是知名原文著作如[5]、大學教材如[8]、[9]，還是網路上的教學資源如[7]，大都沿襲自3GPP TS03.60[1]的同一套講法：將RR視而不見，這令筆者隱隱覺得不妥，便開始深入3GPP/GSM 的規格圖書館中博灠文件，幸運地在某些文件中找到解答，在此發表心得，以供參考。 圖一以簡化的方式畫出GSM與GPRS的網路元件與界面名稱。此圖下端可以看出GPRS比GSM多增加的兩個網路元件：SGSN與GGSN，由於Gb界面的信令複雜度大於Gn界面(Gn的堆疊只有IP/GTP/UDP/IP/Ethernet)，可以了解到SGSN在GPRS網路所扮演的吃重角色，也因為與移動相關的信令(如GMM)從MS經由各BTS-BSC只到SGSN為止，所以大部分的3GPP技術規格都只談論MS到SGSN的過程，這種觀點是可以理解的。 首先，請讀者先不必在意手機Iu mode加上RRC與RLC的建議，(老實說A...讓我們繼續深入RR的架...

GSM Cell Size (GSM涵蓋範圍). 試著問一位有經驗的工程師，GSM或3G的基地台涵蓋範圍最大幾公里，獲得的答案往往不夠確定，但模糊的語義中大概可以歸納成三點：. 這點非常明顯，基地台的塔高越高，天線可以涵蓋的面積就越大，只要想像將電燈泡掛在越高處，室內可以照亮的角落越多。同理可知基地台的位置越高或是塔高越高，可以服務的面積越大。 這點也很直覺，基地台的發射功率越高，電波就可以傳得越遠。 這點需要一點想像，但是如果熟悉RF Channel model的人，對於地形與地物如何影響path loss或是產生multi-path與shadowing的效果，將不陌生，因此不難想像假設MS與BTS相同距離，例如都是10km，BTS的發射功率與天線高度固定，將此條件放在東京市與台北市，所得到的通信品質將不會一樣，這就是地形地物的效應。 GSM的涵蓋範圍到底有多大？WiMAX說可以遠傳50km算是很厲害嗎？真的有比GSM厲害嗎？ Step 7: MS在AGCH根據Request referen...
