One of her key messages was that in order to get and retain readers, a blog must not remain always on topic but should reveal something interesting about the author, personally, even if it's not related to the official subject of the blog. So I had a delightful experience yesterday, a woman at a networking meeting asked me if I was a runner. I said no, running hurts my knees. She observed that I look very trim and fit and that's why she'd thought that. I thanked her and went on about my business.
